This restaurant is closed. I have to give it a rating for this comment to be accepted, so I say it was lovely in its day.

Alberto's is almost as old as Merida itself, i.e., it's an institution. You don't go for the food (which is always better than average but always just short of great); you don't go for the ambiance (same comments); you go for the opportunity to experience a slice of Merida's unique history and culture. You can have a truly fabulous evening... More

This place is set in a really beautiful courtyard, however the menu feels tired. It's expensive for Merida, there are definitely much better options and much cheaper options.

I had the fish stuffed with shrimp and Yucatecan sauce, and it was delicious. So they can do more than Lebanese foods, which is the typical advice. My partner had shrimp on a skewer, which was also good. And Alberto stopped by and was his normal charming self. Restaurant has been painted and freshed up -- looks great. This was... More

We entered Alberto's Continental and were enchanted right away. This restaurant is situated in a three hundred year old casa. We chose to eat in the courtyard surrounded by huge rubber trees. One could also eat in a lovely dining room. The Margaritas were potent and the hummus had just enough garlic to make it interesting. The Bruchetta de Camarones... More

they have been in business for 50 years and still doing it right. we went for a change of food. they have lebanese food as well yucatanian(sp). the best hummus, tabouli and babganoush i've ever had. the main dining room is in a courtyard with a giant tree canopy and since alberto is antique collector a lot of his finds... We dined at Alberto's on New Year's Eve after walking around the city and finding many of the restaurants closed. We were promptly seated at a table overlooking an absolutely stunning, gorgeous courtyard. Our waiter was excellent and the menu came with English translation. Alberto's specializes in Lebanese food, so we ended up splitting the complete Arab dinner, which came... More

We had decent humus and baba ganoush followed by excellent seafood. The owner is an older gentlemen with good sense of humour, friendly yet unimposing. Dining on the patio among large trees offers a relaxing contrast from the noisy streets outside. All of this comes with a well-stocked bar on top. Get there before the old man retires!

I've been going to Alberto's Continental for years and the experience is always wonderful. Wonderful gentlemen and staff. The food, drink and experience is like nothing else. It wouldn't be a trip to Merida without going to the Continental for drinks, dinner and conversation. Not to mention the art.

We've been coming to Alberto's for years, so it was really sad to see how the quality had eroded. My husband just loves Don Alberto, who really is a one-of-a-kind: affable, brilliantly knowledgeable on an amazing range of topics, a true Mexican gentleman. But unfortunately he is past his prime and his financial troubles have affected the quality of the... More
