Shared seafood pasta and pizza

One of the big attractions of Isla Mujeres is the seafood. Mamma Rosa's was recommended to us by several fellow tourists. There was such an abundance of tasty seafood on the pizza that we had no trouble finishing it. On the other hand, there was so much linguini (as opposed to seafood) in the pasta... read more

Our first choice for a dinner restaurant was closed, and we had heard a few folks comment that they really liked Mamma Rosa, so we decided to give it a whirl. I wish we hadn't. Overall, service was lackluster, and so was the food. I had the linguini di mare (linguini with seafood), and my wife had the risotto di... More

We went to this place because it was my grandparents choice. The food was passable meaning I choked down my calamari. Did we have desert? I don't know. The fact that I can't remember means it probably wasn't very good. The service was friendly but very slow. We enjoyed sitting outside watching people and the evening approach. We saw other... More

i had risotto primavera. Tasted like rice cooked in chicken bullion with mostly canned or over cooked vegetables thrown in. Cost was something like 150 pesos. Husband had chicken. Dry, no flavor. Came with a few potatoes. Service was mostly inattentive.

It seems a little random having Italian in mexico but I have to say it was pretty good. Everything was pretty simple but sometimes that can be the best right? I had a pizza and my parents had some sort of traditionak spaghetti that hit the spot. The noodles were al dente and delish. I love the corner wine stop.... More

Mama Rosas get no love but we eat there every visit and it's always good. The serves do a really nice job especially with the wine service. Give Mama Rosa some love . And have meatball.

Spent another week on Isla. Dined with Giacomo three times. Had friends come in mid week and couldn't think of a better place with a table on Hidalgo. Giacomo graciously accommodated us. Risotto is to die for and my Yankee friend loves the gnocchi. Had grouper tonight. Outstanding. Tell Giacomo I sent you.

There are so many amazing places to eat on Isla, but our favorite spot year after year continues to be Mamma Rosa's on Hildago! The food, ambiance and welcoming owner makes this one of Islas best places. Don't miss it!!

Another wonderful dinner at Momma Rosa. Always a favorite stop for our group on Hidalgo. Great location and great service! Pizza is delicious too. Bolognes and spaghetti with meatballs are wonderful dishes. We'll be back again!
