Great food, fun place.

You have to look for this place, but the short walk from the plaza is worth it. Sopa de Frijoles is enough to share, and the Enchiladas Suisas are excellent. The owner is a character and likes to play around, but be careful or you'll end up ordering (and paying for) items you might not have wanted.

We arrived at this small restaurant without any expectation: in the middle of nowhere, but finally liked the authentic set. Owners were very nice, helpful and funny and food was just so fresh and good that we had the best dinner of our trip in Mexico! Moreover, such a good value for money was just great for our wallet! We... More

We've been to Isla 5 times and each time, I have a list of restaurants I want to try while we're there. Somehow, La Lomita has always been pushed down to the bottom of the list, and we never make it there. Each time I leave Isla I pout and complain that our itinerary never allowed us to make it... I eat ceviche everywhere it's available pretty much... I have never order a ceviche that was made fresh to order on the spot until La Lomita. I'm thinking when I ordered the mixto that they were just going to dip into a vat of each kind and mix it up or possibly have a mixed batch already made... NOPE. I... More

This is an authentic place that you need to check out. Everything on the menu is fantastic and taste delicious! It's not an upscale place but if you're in Isla Mujeres you want relaxing atmosphere! They serve your drinks in beautiful ceramic cups.

The food was ok. I liked this place better before it was discovered by the gringos and when it was a simple cocina economica. The owner was rather trashed. He couldn't remember, ver our water and one coca cola order. He must have asked for it 20 times. It was our most expensive meal on the island and we ate at... More

Fine place to get the real local food but we were a little let down on our visit. The relleno was good but being from the Southwest, we get just as good at home if not better. Too much cheese spoils the flavor of the poblano Black bean soup was very well done and a meal by itself. The enchiladas... More

Every year we make one or two stops at La Lomita. The bean soup is better than Abuelitas! (glad she won't be reading this) I ordered the coconut shrimp and I have been craving it ever since. Great food, great atmosphere, and great people.

Just off the zocolo in a modest house, Mama is cooking, the waitress is barefoot, and the "AC" consists of box fans. We had the shrimp enchiladas and shrimp in garlic sauce. We cook Mexican food in the family and travel to Mexico frequently ... and the enchiladas were literally the best we have ever had. Fresh large shrimp, grilled... More

Seven of us had dinner here a few days ago. The mole, chile relleno, and the enchiladas were so good, we nearly cried. I've never eaten guacamole before, but wiped out an entire bowl almost by myself. Mamacita (the cook, maybe owner?) is incredibly talented. We watched her make everything fresh while we enjoyed our drinks. Definitely recommended!
