Real Mexican Food and Atmosphere

Every year we visit Isla Mujeres, and a visit would not be complete without a meal at La Lomitas. This is authentic Mexican food at great prices. The restaurant is not luxurious, but it always has excellent food at reasonable prices.

We went twice. We all loved the food including mole. Great cold beer in Mexican mugs and best margaritas. Only negative is music is too loud inside but we were able to sit outside

Newly painted & decorated with the best restaurant decor in Isla Mujeres. Presentation is charming, with very attractive plates & pottery plus "stay cool" beer mugs which are unique. Mugs are refrigerated before they are filled & beer stays cold for ages. Great concept & mugs, which are works of art, are also for sale at $20.00 a piece. Some... More

Wife and I went here for lunch, and very glad we did. We had guacamole, Lime soup, and chicken mole. All of which were very good. Great little restaurant just south of town on the Caribbean side.

Based on other reviews my husband ordered the bean soup and wasn't disappointed, it was a full meal and very good. I ordered a shrimp dish and while it was tasty, like so often in Mexico the shrimp was a bit overdone. Prices average for Isla, and the drinks were cold! Also, very decent wine for a reasonable price.

We stopped here for dinner on night and it has the real authentic Mexican feel. The food was delicious. We had the pork enchiladas with green sauce and the Pablano Pepper. The beer is served in Ice Cold pottery glasses. It was very reasonably priced also. Great service and we sat outside. It was so good we went back a... More

A meal at LaLomita is experiencing local cuisine in a friendly atmosphere. Dining at the outside table keeps you entertained as the busy street is full of color and ambiance. The bean soup (soap de frijoles) is my favorite..black beans, rice, avocado, cilantro, tomatoes and onions, topped with shredded cheese...amazing flavor at a reasonable price. The service is casual, never... More

We found this place because Frommers mentioned it. It's REALLY good authentic mexican food. I had the mole, and it was one of the best I'd had, and my wife had a stuffed poblano that was outstanding. All the salsas and guacamole's were great as well. Our kids weren't huge fans because it was a little different (being authentic) so... More

We asked a local for an authentic Mexican food restaurant in our last night and they recommended La Lomita, we would never have found it in our own. It's definitely a hidden gem, very low key and unpretentious. We started with the coldest beer we had in Mexico and it just kept on getting better for there! The menu is... More
