great food in an authentic setting

For those who want the real taste of Isla Mujeres, Poc Chuc is calling. This non-descript cafe - just one block off of Hidalgo - offers up a fantastic (and low cost) breakfast. This place gets good review but it must be for chicken and beef dishes. The shrimp tacos were average and the bean soup needed way more beans.

First off, Poc Chuc is SO CUTE and colorful! But even better than that- the food is fantastic! We started with the chicken tinga tostadas, which could have been a meal in itself (for one). My husband had and loved the signature dish Poc Chuc which is like a thin but tender and flavorful pork chop. Upon reading other reviews,... More

My wife and I dined here on a Sunday evening. There are six tables and all but one was full. We took the last table. My wife ordered the pork chop dinner which she felt was one of the best she had eaten. I ordered chicken fajitas which were also good, but not quite as good as her pork shop.... More

Cheap and good service, good food, amazing ceviche and brochette/kebab. The owner speak some English and like to converse. Well located, rustic and real Yucatan food. You have to go to Poc Chuc, you will not be disappointed..

I've been going here for years. It is one of the few local loncherias left down town. They've raised there prices over the years, but it's still a great deal. It is authentic Mexican food that never fails to satisfy. We always start with the fresh guacamole and usually have the tacos. The fish tacos are excellent, made with fish... More

We have eaten at different places in Playa, Cancun and Isla, at different price ranges. This one tops it all. Fresh homemade real food. Nice portions. Tiny place, outrageously great food. Loved the empanadas! Loved the avocados stuffed with tuna salad! Loved the fried bananas! Loved all the fish! Will come back

Loved the variety and quality! Great prices, fast service, and friendly staff. Be sure to try their Chaya natural drink made of native leaves and lime.

Picked up a fresh bottle of mandarina juice at the mercado and then stopped for breakfast at Poc Chuc. Huevos rancheros was standard fare but the huevos moutelenos was outstanding. Both were an excellent value and the service in this "comida econimica" was terrific.

How do I begin and end? Outside looking at the menu and the waiter comes out and after I asked him he said tea is included. So I order the special with black tea, fruit plate, juice, eggs and chorizo. He brings the tiny juice and tells me the tea is xtra. No prob, just bring it. Long wait, tea... More
