Light tempura batter with cole slaw, white flaky fish! Try the tamarind sauce that is served on the side, easy does it, it has a little kick!

This place is hard to find - it is off the main road, you must walk behind the gas station, towards the fishing boats. The service was great, the golden and the mango margaritas were outstanding and HUGE. They had the best fish tacos that I had on the island, totally fresh and perfect. We also had the calamari, sauteed... More

Setting and view were very nice, and the drinks were big but very odd tasting. We ordered the traditional margaritas, and they were barely drinkable. They had an odd, industrial taste. Would have gone down a little better if we had been offered chips to go with them. Sorry, won't be returning. Dueling music (from speaker and TV) didn't help.

Best place for fish tacos.....bar none...the ambience is simple...a bar and a restaurant straddling the pier....the scenery is great...the chairs are hard....but the tacos are outstanding.

The life at Isla Mujeres is slow, and I like it. But when it comes to service at restaurants, I actually do like to place my drink and food order in time, and not to wait for too long, to have a wine re-fill without asking and not having to ask for any spices, including salt. Here - all my... More

On 11/29/14 I was shopping in El Centro and decided to stop in Bally Hoo for some ceviche. I was pleasantly greeted by the waiter and he took my order in a timely manner. Sitting under the thatched roof with the breezes was nice and cool on a hot day. The Shrimp Ceviche was excellent! I will return to Bally... More

When we were told that “the restaurant behind the gas station has great food” we were a little skeptical, thinking “what kind of a restaurant could be behind a gas station?” Once we walked behind it, we were amazed to find a beautiful grass-roofed hut style restaurant and bar situated on a dock right at the waterfront. The view from... More

I have been to Isla Mujeres probably 20 times and had always walked past it. Not for any reason other than we seemed to develop our own habits and preferences. Recently I was on some of the Isla fan pages on Facebook and everyone continues to rant and rave about Bally Hoo. Well, I made a point of going to... More
