Great little restaurant. It’s a little bit of a break from just the local tacos but the prices are still cheap and the food is good. My husband had the habanero and ginger shrimp and I had the chorizo plate. Both were very good. Salads are pretty nice here too, which is rare for Mexico. As always, the biggest attraction... more

My husband and I found this restaurant through the Moon guidebook during our visit in early December 2009. The restaurant is a bit off of the main tourist area, but easily found and easily walkable from the main square. Our table was on a smallish balcony on the second floor, overlooking a partially business/partially residential area. quiet and relaxing. I... more

Go here, you won't be dissapointed. When you arrive, you go up this narrow little staircase into the restaurant. There are three little tables out on their balcony (where we sat) and it was such a neat atmosphere. It isn't on the main strip, so you are just looking down at the street and the living spaces nearby--there is a... more

We met Adrian the owner in the supermarket. He introduced himself and told us to stop by. We did and were not disappointed. Adrian was the consummate host. He goes around the table and has fun with everyone. It's a small place and we had most of the upstairs to ourselves. The food was excellent and the service is outstanding.... more

Yes, Adrian is El Fuerte Grande, but as we say in English "the proof is in the pudding" . All one needs do is try Especias. The food is the real star in this restaurant. Isla Cozumel abounds with great, natural food choices, and this is one not to be missed. more

Appetizers - Zucchini boats: so very fresh. A perfect blend of flavors in a crisp offering - Spinach empanadas: very nice. Crisp and flaky, the way one should be Entrees - Chicken Especias & Chicken Napolitano: Both very tasty in their own rights. I would recommend both of them. A surprising side dish for Cozumel was the mashed potatoes that... more

Stopped in early right after diving. Missed Adrian and Guitar playing but felt we were catered to since we were the only group. We made a dinner out of the appetizers and soup with Zuccini boats, chorizo and cheese, and pumpkin soup were our favorites. This is now a must do when we return. more

Our trip to Cozumel wouldn't be complete with a visit to Especia Restaurante for fantastic food, friendship, and beautiful music. Adrian greeted us with open arms, seated us and served our favorite drinks as the sunset in Cozumel. With so many wonderful entrees, it was hard to make a decision. The food was perfecto, as usual! The service first rate!... more

Espcias is a unique little bistro. The food is eclectic and very tasy, but the best thing about Especias is Adrian, the owner. Adrian comes around to every table and talks to the patrons. He truly makes you feel at home. The guitarist was out of this world. Go to Especias! Leave the kids at home, they won't appreciate it.... more
