The food deserves a FIRM five-star rating!! The tacos al pastor and tacos de lingua are the best I've had anywhere - the pazole is one of the best I've ever had. While the staff are quite friendly, the service is VERY relaxed, even by "island-time" standards, and that can be a bit frustrating. The prices are extremely budget-friendly!

We went here five years ago and returned with the bar set pretty high since we had such fond memories of the Pastor Tacos here. We weren't disappointed. The atmosphere is nothing at all, but the food is fresh, quick and can't be beat. The guacamole is some of the best we had. One of our favorites!

Guacamole always freshly made when you order, Interesting menu with one of the few places on the Island that serves Pozole. I love the Gringas and can't seem to veer off the menu but have taste tested lots of other things.. Nothing fancy but oh so good...recommend it to people coming to the island for the first time. They love... More

Los Otates is a great restaurant for very good local Mexican Food. The location is great and very convenient to downtown. The food is fresh, authentic and just plain tasty. I'd definitely recommend this place for a great Mexican dinner in a locals type of place. The prices were crazy low too!

Our divemaster, Alvaro of Blue Dream Cozumel, recommended Los Otates. It is off the beaten path, a couple block away from the square, but like most of Cozumel, we felt completely safe and the restaurant had both locals and visitors. The food was Incredible. We had a variety of tacos and my husband had a "red" soup that melts in... More

Just great food cheap. Went there twice on our last trip and it was the best, most authentic food we had on the trip. You simply must have the pozole. The place is open-air and not much to look at. There were english menus however. It's not a long walk from the main strip and there are only a couple... More

Off the beaten path for most tourist, but a can't miss. Tacos Al Pastor is awesome, also tongue tacos, sliced not diced rocks. Nice mix of locals and tourists For truly local cuisine you cant go wrong here. Be sure to look for pet chicken across street. Family has raised the chicken to be a pet. Daughter carries it around... great place full of locals and tourists but can always get a seat. Limited menu tacos, sandwiches and soups - great pozole!

Had Pastor and gringas. Save $ and just get the pastor as it is the same as the gringas except gringas have cheese. These are greasy goodness and in my opinion the cheese doesn't do anything for it. Delicious!
