Several years ago, we stumbled upon this quiet local restaurant a few blocks away from the ferry landing and all the tourist traps. Our first experience was great and we have come back every year during our annual visit to Cozumel. It has a nice covered, open air seating area that fronts a quiet side street. The staff appears to... More

Delightful food from a small local restaurant that is away from the main/drag tourists. Their claim is 'the best of Cuban/Mexican food and they did not disappoint! My Mom had the chicken fajitas and I thought that may be a bit boring, but they were amazing- very flavourful! I had the white fish marinated in spicy adobo (red) sauce and... More

We were looking for a good breakfast place within walking distance and was directed to Candela by the property manager of the condo we were staying in. Although we arrived close to lunch time, they readily accommodated us for breakfast. The food was very good and authentic, and the staff was professional and helpful. If you are wondering......yes, I would... More

After arriving in the early afternoon at the Cozumel airport and dropping our bags off at our Las Ventanas condo rental, this has become our next stop for lunch. This is a Mexican restaurant serving dishes cooked in a true Mexican style. You see a lot of locals eating here – usually a sign that the food is reliably good.... More

Stumbled across this place by accident. What a great way to taste true Mexican cuisine! On arrival you get nachos and salsa. We ordered shrimp fajitas which came sizzling on a hot plate. Food was VERY DELICIOUS and good portion sizes. Food also very reasonably priced. If you're around, give them a try!

We ate at La Candela at least 6 times. The traditional Mexican dishes were all very good, with the fish and pork tacos among the best we've eaten. Our favorite was the fried plantains, which are sweet and have a natural carmelized coating, despite having no sugar added( we asked). The staff and owner are attentive, and the open air... More

I ordered the fish Maya which had achiote sauce and it was super. My friend had arrechera and it was equally delicious. Prices were very reasonable considering the high quality of the food. Highly recommended.

The fish and pork tacos were both delicious, as well as the refried beans. The portions did not look that big but it was filling and the meal was incredibly cheap. The front desk of our hotel recommended it to us for lunch and we were very glad that they did.
