Good Food Like We Had 20 Yrs Ago in Cozumel

Palapa style rooms, whirling fans, locals and tourists alike frequent this place, not far from the main square. No air conditioning, but we like it like that. They have a wonderful Chili/garlic/creamy picante dipping sauce we like to put on just about everything. There is a lunch special, but... read more

After a day of diving the owner of Blue Magic Scuba recommended La Candela for some good food. It was more than good. The flank steak my son had was soooo much better and tender than the steak he had at our resort in Playa del Carmen. The rest of us had grouper which was amazing. The soup that was... More

Great place for lunch! The specials of the day are very good and inexpensive. Ask to see them if you are not sure from the descriptions. The sauce they bring out with the chips is wonderful and unique. Try the Jamaica very good and refreshing. The waiters have been around for years and remember us on our yearly trips. Always... More

We eat at La Candela once or twice each dive trip. Whether it's breakfast or lunch, we enjoy the fairly healthy and unique cooking at this place. Prices are reasonable and you'll see more locals than tourists dining here - always a good sign.

Hiram, the owner-chef makes a great mojito and the best corn soup (sopa de elote) in the world. The menu has lots of choices, and there are always a couple of specials. Dee and I split the fajitas with guacamole, black beans and fresh salsa. There is also fresh chips accompanied by Rosario’s (Hiram’s wife and chef at La Choza)... More

This restaurant is slightly off the beaten path and doesn't feel so touristy like a lot of the island. It was a nice quiet place to grab some food and drinks. Great prices. This place was recommended to us by a local. I will definitely go back next time I am in Cozumel.

We took a the ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel. We rented a scooter and rode around the island. We have eaten at this restaurant before and the food is always good.

Cool local place just north of downtown. We love sitting in the open air dining room and just watching the world go by. A few tourists, many locals every time we eat here. The spicy cheese sauce they serve is unique and good - more tangy than plain hot, but it packs some heat as well. We've never had a... More

Asked a local where to eat authentic Mexican. Well this place did not disappoint. What delicious food and served by such nice staff. authentic mexican. The guacamole is worth the trip there. OMG The funny part is the owner is Cuban! His mexican wife and her family own other restaurant called La Choza, but we did not get a chance... More

I have been to Cozumel numerous times and prefer the back street behind the main street. While shopping, a local suggested we follow him to a restaurant. It was just great with a thatched roof, indoor or outdoor seating and THE BEST MANGO DAQUIRI EVER! All ingredients freshly chopped and served, guacamole that was also the best ever and salsa/entrees... More
