Low-key, great food and service, mix of locals and tourists

This is my wife and I's first time in Cozumel, and we came here for the diving (which is phenomenal!). We loved that this restaurant was far removed from the tourist area of town, which means that the tourists that did find it had to look for it or know about it. My wife and I had the mixed... read more

It was an interesting and expensive ride to get here only to find a less than sanitary dwelling that serves only mediocre and overpriced food. We ordered two lobster dinners and we very disappointed at the toughness of the lobsters and poor quality of the sides. The waiter was absent unless you yelled over the music to get his attention.... We asked our taxidriver about a nice seafood restaurant. He drove us for a long time around and we thought it would be an insider tip because it was a bit fare away from the center. When we arrived lots of drivers went into the restaurant for commission for bringing tourists. So the restaurant was full of older noisy tourists... More

This is a great place to get a nice sized lobster tail, any way you like it, for less than $20, including rice and a salad. This is also a great place to eat lion fish grilled, fried, or as a burger. The servers are very attentive and really hustle to please you. They say it's a local place but... More

Just a short taxi ride away is this cute place that serves the locals. It used to be a little secret but now you will find locals and tourists eating together. Just ask a taxi to go to Perlitas. They will know where it is. Yummy hour horchata is fresh made. Worth the drive for traditional Mexican fare.

I found this place through one of the locals. We had the snapper, lion fish, and grouper. It was all amazing. It is similar to what you would pay at Red Lobster but better.

La Perlita is located away from the main tourist area (ferry terminal, museum, etc) but not far by car, taxi or scooter. It's a charming facility, with an atmosphere perfect for a date or something different. It is pretty well known, but I've not had trouble getting a table. The food is good and reasonably priced, not expensive. The staff... More

all taxi drivers know this spot...yes it is safe....tables and chairs to sit and relax, they have a bar there, their fish soup is also top of the line but save room for lobster, they bring it to you and ask you what size you want......it is an adventure

We had the lobster and it was terrific. I really like the atmosphere. The waiters were very helpful with any menu questions. Would go again

Plenty of similar restaurants nearby. Try the Mole a jete or 'lava stone', lots of seafood served in a hot rock. Reasonably priced and service ok.
