Coming home for a great home cooked meal

Our meal was cooked by mom. Seriously - the mother of the boys who run the restaurant (Ray and Helser) cooked our meal. This was our third trip to the restaurant and it had my non-eating, food under appreciating husband ooohing and aaahing. He wanted to eat MY dinner as well as his. When we walk it... read more

My wife and I went straight to El Moro after getting settled into our room and was a little surprise the the place was almost empty. The food and drink did not disappoint at all. We had the fish sampler for two. Our favorite was the shrimp in white wine sauce, everything we tried was great. Margaritas were taste and... More

Visited after a recommendation and having read the trip advisor reviews. No idea what these people are on but it was by far the worst meal we've had in Mexico. Food was really awful and the restaurant was full of tourists and quite gimmicky. Definitely not authentic. The waiters were really nice but they were absolutely rushed off their feet.... More

The restaurant is charming! And the food is awesome. Take a taxi as it's in the middle of a neighborhood (very safe). We had our taxi driver pick up us in an hour and a half and it worked out perfectly, but the restaurant will call you a cab. The seafood is fresh and prepared to your liking, grilled, in... More

It's was one of many past visits to cozumel, so of course El Moro was a destination spot for us, And as always Ray and his family didn't disapoint. I have yet to order anything on his menu that wasn't absolutely delicious and memorable.

Fun atmosphere and great food! We had the combination seafood platter for 3 and four of us ate it! Loved trying three different types of fish and the grilled shrimp were fantastic. The service is amazing...and the waiters are fast and helpful!

We went and enjoyed last year and it was a must return this year. Ray greeted us at the door as if we were old friends that he remembered well. Either he did, or coincidence was on his side as he led us to "our" table. EXACT same table we sat at last year! Margaritas strong, menu explained, substitutions cheerfully... More

We have been going to Cozumel for many, many years and we had never been to El Moro. Kept meaning to go, and never made it there. I was determined this time and so our group headed over there. We drove, and it wasn't that hard to find with a map and instructions. Why had we never eaten here before???... More

Last March I was in Cozumel diving and went here three times! My daughter and I just took the ferry over for the day from Playa because I wanted her to see the place I've been raving about since other divers took me there back in 1996. I've never had a better carne tampiqeuña! My daughter had the carne cubano!... More

Seriously, the best meal I've had in Mexico by far & one of the best I've ever had full stop. It is in a totally random neighbourhood & to be honest, when I saw it, I was bummed. What followed was one of my favourite experiences of a new restaurant ever. They are ridiculously lovely people & the food they... More
