Friends took me to this charming family owned restaurant. It was the best meal I've had in Mexico so far.

Ray will make your day. Always smiling and happy and makes you feel like you are the most important customer in the restaurant whether you are a local or visitor. We go on Sundays for the cochinita pibil which is one of their specialties. The meat just melts in your mouth. My spouse likes the queso reanos. Another couple with... More

This is an awesome restaurant tucked away in the residential area. A short $ 5.00 cab ride from downtown. Extensive menu. Prices are very reasonable and portions are large. Three of us shared the seafood platter for 3 and could not eat it all . Came to about $ 20/person. The platter included, large shrimp grilled, large shrimp Barcelona (shrimp... More

This is a very out of the way restuarant in a residential neighborhood, worried it was a dive but, OMG. Huge menu, great prices and Delicious!!!, the fish was fresh, local, and prepared in many interesting and different ways. Good portions and great staff, seems like a secret treasure but plenty of customers.Definitely would go back if we return to... More

El Moro is in the "Neighborhood!" If you are living within the myth that there could be danger in what appears, then you may be too intimidated by my your mythology -- in that case, I would not advise visiting. If you know that the Mexican people are warm and generous and welcoming, and you want a taste of the... More

The vibe of this place is billed as local, though when we were there we saw more tourists than locals. The location is a good many blocks away from the water and main drag, which does give it less of a tourist feel. The service was good, but the food seemed just average. I had the garlic shrimp. The shrimp... More

Certainly off the beaten path, but that's part of the experience. Started for mainly locals only. A family owned and operated by a great, hard working family! They are moving up! Food is authentic and so good! I recommend the breaded fried grouper! Say Hi to Ray for me! :) You will recognize him... he's the one who always smiling... More

Another trip to El Moro to get Sopa de Lima and ceviche. El Moro has the best Sopa de Lima I've had on the island, the ceviche is very good - and you can't beat the service at El Moro. They don't skimp on the drinks either. Get yourself to El Moro!
