This was our third trip to Cozumel in the past 20 years and every time, we dined at El Moro. It is family run by what can only be described as the nicest people we have ever met in any of our travels. Excellent food, giant cocktails and friendly attentive service.

A warm welcome and delicious dinner awaited us. Seafood platters (love the conch) chicken mole, grilled shrimp enjoyed by 6 happy eaters. El Moro makes it's own atmosphere, that's why so many of us keep coming back.

We've been to El Moro in both 2008 and recently in 2014. The food is outstanding. I highly recommend the shrimp. The fried shrimp are the largest I've ever seen. We had a few different varieties at the table and they are clean, fresh, and delicious. Everything we ordered was just top notch. Their service is excellent, and make sure... More

Took a Mahi filet that my wife caught there to be prepared for dinner one evening. They cooked it two different ways, and both were awesome. They thanked us for trusting them(to cook the fish we brought)! How thoughtful. It's like going home to family when you dine there. Hugs and everything!

Good local places are disappearing in Cozumel. The Carlos and Charley crowd have pushed most of the real ones out of the center. This was among the best 20 years ago and still is. The menu hasn't changed and holds almost 300 local and Mayan dishes. My favorite is a Mayan fish dish cooked in foil, probably a leaf earlier,... More

Good authentic Mexican food. In a very obscure area. Great prices...not the tourist mark up. Service was a little slow.

If you travel to Cozumel and don't visit El Moro, you have really missed a big highlight of your trip. The food and family atmosphere here is incredible. It's hard to find this quality of service in the US and Ray and his family consistently go above and beyond. From the kids who are looking for a few pesos for... More

I am from Chicago, so I've had my fair share of various restaurants and experiences, and nothing comes close to the enjoyment that El Moro brought us. Warmly greeted we sat down and asked what our server, Ray, suggested. He suggested the seafood platter and my boyfriend and I decided to give it a shot! It was unlike any seafood... More

We loved El Moro. It honestly was a little bit pricey for the setting and that is the only reason I am not giving it a 5 star. Our food was delicious and the owner was one of the nicest people I have met. He was genuinely happy to have us there and we could tell. We went at about... More

My trips to Cozumel always include one or two evenings at El Moro. You will be greeted by Ray's big smile like you're his long lost brother. Not the most beautiful setting nor is it right in town but well worth the $3 cab ride each way. The reasonable prices make up for this.
