This indoor air conditioned restaurant was right next to Walmart's parking lot in Cancun downtown. They offer Mexican food and others. Menu was in English and Spanish. The place was clean, coffee was great and lots of varieties. Price was inexpensive around 300 pesos for full dinner plus appetizer plus drinks excl tips for 2 people. Location was definitely convenient just walking distance from Walmart.

Good Mexican food near Walmart

Hubby and I always make sure that we visit El Porton when on our yearly vacation in Cancun. You really can't go wrong with any of the meals. Hubby had the special spicy chicken soup which is full of vegetables & has a kick to it. I had a small vegetable soup & enchiladas which were very good. We... read more

We noticed this restaurant our first day in Cancun when we were on our way to WalMart. Stopped in for breakfast and we were extremely happy we did. The meal was more than delicious the presentation and price exceptional. Sorry we were not able to return during our stay but will be back for sure on our next visit. If... More

Freshly made churros sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon are brought to your table once you order drinks. Fresh tortilla chips with excellent salsa. The guacamole is definitely the most authentic. Spicy and fresh. The portions are perfect. The restaurant is clean and the service is on point. I loved it so much I went back again today. I'll be in... More

This restaurant is very reminiscent of a canteen or cafeteria, both the arrangement of the tables, as well as the service. Therefore, this restaurant is to be regarded rather as a better fast food restaurant. The food is moderate, the "Escalopa de Cerdo en salsa Pasilla" we had was nearly cold when served and the tortilla tastless". In general, the... More

I came here with a large group of people. We found out about this place by one of the workers at the resort we were staying at. Once we arrived we couldn't help but chuckle, it did not have any type of "authentic Mexican feel" and the kids play place was the cherry on top. We reluctantly decided to stay... More

We stopped by this restaurant after visiting Walmart to pic up some supplies while in Cancun. Not sure what to think of it, from the outside, it looked almost like it would be the "Chili's" of Mexico or something along those lines. Sure enough it was. Once you enter, don't be afraid, ask for the english menu and they will... More

It looked like any other fast food restaurant but I got surprised. The fish was delicious and very cheap.

Today,Sunday,August 17th my friends and I revisited El Porton for lunch. This restaurant is in the same large parking lot of Walmart and the entrance is facing Xcaret Avenue. I like to compare it to a Howard Johnson's restaurant which was a standard type place from the 1950s to 1980s. I believe it is owned and operated by the same... More

First time we ate here we found it by accident. We'd flown from Tampa to Miami to Cancun and I'd not eaten all day, so I didn't care WHERE we ate. Now I insist this be our first stop after landing. The food was delicious and Mexican Food is my most favorite. All of the waitresses we have ever had... More
