I've been to Cancun 9 times but last December was the first time we ate at La Palapa Belga, after I found a reference for it here on Trip Advisor. Very overrated on tripadvisor in my mind... big portions, would've been better if we shared them. I wouldn't recommend it though. You walk through a pretty crappy hotel to get to the restaurant, though the view is quite nice with all of cancun's lights with none of it's sound. The food is not great here but above average. The real reason to come here is the romantic setting that cannot be beat. I would suggest coming on a warm night and early in your trip. We found Belga on a Cancun insider website several years ago.It has become a MUST visit for us on our yearly visits to Cancun. this restaurant is on the lagoon at the very north end of the hotel zone so you are looking across at the hotel zone.
