Loved, loved this restaurant! The best meal I had in Cancun was here. The restaurant sits on the lagoon and the views are beautiful. It is off the beaten path buit well worth it. The decor is dated but the food and wait staff more than make up for it.

We tried La Palapa Belga while on our recent trip to Cancun and were quite disappointed. I agree the location is really cool, hidden right on the lagoon. We did go during the off-season so maybe that made a difference, although it shouldn't. Looking at all the good reviews I'd like to hope we were just there on an "off"... More

This restaurant is a hidden gem. We had the most wonderful time. We were to couples and were celebrating our 50 anniversary. Try the pot of mussels it is a house special. The owner heard it was our anniversary and bought us desert and champagne. The views are outstanding and the outside dining is like being in your own world.

Went with a large group of women, one of them very elderly. It wasn't easy getting there as the elderly had a walker. The result was well worth the effort. The wait staff was extremely patient and helpful. The food was a welcome change of cuisine with a variety of fish dishes. The desert was delicious. It is worth the... More

Saw a lot of adverts for this restaurant but the concierge of my hotel was unsure about whether to make a recommendation because of the mixed reviews she got from guests. Depending on what you are looking for, perhaps; it is hidden within a 3 star hotel off the beaten path. We went in low season so we were the... More

This little place is on the lagoon, across from the hotels (you have to walk thru a hotel lobby to get there). The menu isn't huge, but it is varied, including fish of the day, shrimp, salmon, beef tenderloin, steak, pork and chicken, with several daily specialties and lots of starters.

We tried the Prime Rib night on Monday, so we decided to go back on Friday for the Shrimp Festival. My wife had the Shrimp Platter and I had the Shrimp stuffed with Crab. These were served with rice, refried beans and grilled vegetables. Both of these were delicious. As always the service was excellent. Our table was next to... More

if you want a change of pace from Mexican food, this is a great little french/belgian restaurant off the beaten path. tucked away in a residential area, this restaurant offers a great menu with pate, escargot, french onion soup, fish specials - delicious. more for a romantic dinner, not for the party going crowd.

We didn't really know what to expect. Belgium/French in Cancun? We were pleasantly surprised! The casual, lagoon front dining has spectacular sunset views. We dined on a Friday evening and had an added bonus, we enjoyed live music. The mussels are a perfect choice and they're the house specialty. The seafood tarragon dish was delicious and every dessert we tried was... More

Way off the 'beaten path' in Cancun but worth going. This intimate restaurant (approximately 10 tables) is on a dockside lagoon with an incredible view of the Cancun hotel zone. Attentive yet unobtrusive service with good food at a fair price. Started with the French onion soup the for a main course we enjoyed the beef tenderloin and stuffed chicken... More
