Seriously. This was the greeting we received AFTER our 30 minute taxi ride from the hotel zone. We went based on reviews read in Trip Advisor. DON'T BOTHER GOING UNLESS you call to make sure they have food (or its before 7pm!) If you do go and are as disappointed as we were, there is a nice authentic Mexican place... more

Nothing fancy folks, just really delicious, REALLY fresh, quality ingredients with the best prices of any restaurant in the hotel zone. The tables are plastic with colorful umbrellas. The seating area is over hard sand and sits under some palm trees facing the lagoon so it's very laid back. The service was better than the Ritz. Every time I turned... more

My group of 9 ate here on a mid-week night last week, and it was empty. I found this place through previous trip advisor reviews. It is an excellent taste of local cuisine. It is not the overall dining experience that La Habichuela is, but it is also less expensive. It is located in downtown Cancun - about a 10... more

We had a wonderful meal at El Pescador during the low tourist season in Cancún. Take the R-1 bus from the Hotel Zone to downtown Cancún and exit the bus at City Hall in the downtown area. The seafood was fresh and deliciously prepared; the service was friendly and attentive. My husband enjoyed Huachinango Azteca (red snapper, Aztec style), and... more

This was my first trip to Cancun and we stayed in the downtown area. My husband and I made friends with one of the locals and asked him where we should eat dinner, and without hesitating he said "El Pescador". I am not a big seafood eater, but we decided to go...one of the best decisions of our entire trip.... more

We've been coming to Cancun approx every other year for a decade and like this restaurant so much we always make sure to come for a meal. On our most recent visit, my 11 year old son dubbed it the best meal of his trip (for reference we also ate at "nicer" places ie Cambalache--Argentinian steakhouse). He had a steak... more

I made the bus ride from the Hotel Zone to downtown Cancun ($0.65 each way) to return to one of my favorite downtown restaurant haunts - El Pescador (translates to "The Fisherman"). El Pescador has been open since 1980 offering fresh, reasonably priced seafood and Mexican cuisine. I've been visiting it regularly since 1981. This is a family run place... more
