Tourist Must-see

Busy, kitchy, delicious coffee and good food at good prices. The waiters are talented, dancing between tables of customers, waiting customers, other waiters and busboys, and the occasional muscians that perform. Don't miss this!

They specialize in coffee, as you can probably tell by their name, but have a great variety of breakfast foods, as well. We enjoyed their eggs, though they didn't ask how we wanted them cooked, and they came sunny side up. I'm sure you could ask for them a different way, but who knows how that would turn out. The... This restaurant is listed in all of the guides as a must do in veracruz,! wondered who they paid to write that, in fact the food is totally not impressive, very bland and without any flair, in fact there are many nearby restaurants that serve way better food at half the price, service is impersonal with a hint of arrogance... It should be a "tradition" that when one is in Veracruz one should have at least one breakfast at the Gran Café La Parroquia. There exists in the establishment a tradition that is unique to this place regarding the coffee and serving thereof, but it must be experienced and not explained. Go there, have a great breakfast, and enjoy the... More

Its one of the most famous things in veracruz, in mexico city a lot of people ases me if is been. There are quite a few la parroquias in veracruz and Ive noticed that some of the bad reviews seem to come from one of the two in shopping malls in boca del río. It gets five Stars Because its... More

Waiters were slow and not friendly. Food is overpriced. It is a landmark for Veracruzans but it didn't deliver!

My last review stated "cocky service, over priced" and so forth.... While the service has improved, the food is above average for the pricing, although has been hard lately to have a meal served hot. While I do complain about this establishment I still frequent it as the atmosphere is OK but needed improvement remains a must.

This is not the best restaurant I have visited but certainly it is one of the most interesting. 200 years of history deserve a visit to enjoy the traditional food and the excellent service. Do not miss this Cafe when visiting the city

We had both breakfast and dinner here and we're glad we did. Try all of the egg dishes. All good. Even if you are only an occasional coffee drinker, the "lechero" is mandatory, if only for the presentation. We had turkey enchiladas for dinner. Tasty, filling and very unusual.

This cafe is nothing fancy but it's very traditional which makes it special. The thing to try is the 'lechero' which is essentially just coffee with milk but it's all in the way it's served to you that makes it different. Tall glass with coffee is served to you and the waiter then pours hot milk into your glass form... More
