Excellent, tasty Mexican food of many types, including authentic Chiapaneca food. This restaurant is run by Zapatistas and there are several tiendas around the eating area selling products from Zapatista villages. Free WiFi, very good music (both live and recorded,) nice ambiance. The NY Times says it has a fixed price meal for $30 --- WRONG!! You can eat well for $ 10 and nearly as well for $ 7.00 USD.

Dinner @ terradientro

Nice place with a patio where you can sit for a coffee or a dinner. We enjoyed good local music and good food (good typical sopas with fresh local veg and a tasty pizza). Environment is special as it is in all this magic city...not to be missed!

here, at the zapatista's cooperative, we had our best coffee since starting our travel through Mexico. Unfortunately, they hadn't any more left for sale (next harvest in 1-2 months) so the waiter recommended bying coffee at Yik Cafe, which we did. The breakfast was very good too. Nice atmosphere (music, surrounding), good service.

A good place for a casual dinner. Very interesting to learn about the Zapatista movement, through posters, information, and the shop. The night we were there there was a really good band which was an added bonus. Pizza and desert were very tasty, service a little slow (but pleasant) - we weren't in a hurry so we didn't care. Street... More

Based on those we visited, this Zapatista-supporting cafe may be the best in San Cristobal. The inner atrium layout is inviting and comfortable--whether for a meal, or to set up camp with your laptop and work. The "Mexican" food is notably good (though a bit slow). The shops adjoining the atrium are worth a walk-through, selling high quality goods and... More

Three different servers came by with menus but still no offer of drinks -- finally ordered and my wif'e's hamburger came -- ten minutes later and my first course soup still has not arrived -- I asked and they said "no problem" -- still no soup -- another ten minutes and my entree of "Beef steak" arrives -- hmmm.. need... Big room which almost has an outdoor feel to it. Ideal place to try out Mexican food due to the range available but it also does spectacular pizzas. The food is very tasty and reasonable, although pizzas at app 100 pesos are more expensive. Worth it though. Very pleasant wine at 25 pesos. Was very busy the night we were... More

We've come back here three times in two days cause it was too good! Breakfast is lovely and dinner is even better! fantastic flavors. All made with love. Typical and very political. I've adored it and it's personality.

There is a VERY big menu choice here which includes a separate pizza/pasta menu and lots of Mexican and regional specialties The drinks menu is also extensive. The restaurant is one big open space so as such doesn't have any atmosphere of intimacy or even charm but the food more than makes up for that. Live music is often playing... More

Amazing portion sizes, come hungry! Free bread with sauces to start- one is made from seeds called chimina and was the best. The omelettes are delicious and try the cardamom hot chocolate its great. There are nice posters inside and small shops off the side you can purchase crafts and books from. Great experience. Friendly staff.
