Description: Excellent, tasty Mexican food of many types, including authentic Chiapaneca food. This restaurant is run by Zapatistas and there are several tiendas around the eating area selling products from Zapatista villages. Free WiFi, very good music (both live and recorded,) nice ambiance. The NY Times says it has a fixed price meal for $30 --- WRONG!! You can eat well for $ 10 and nearly as well for $ 7.00 USD.

Amazing portion sizes, come hungry! Free bread with sauces to start- one is made from seeds called chimina and was the best. The omelettes are delicious and try the cardamom hot chocolate its great. There are nice posters inside and small shops off the side you can purchase crafts and books from. Great experience. Friendly staff.

The attention depends on how often you go and how you dress, the nicest the worst, most of San Cristobal's intellectuals go there, because it's told ythat they support the zapatistas... don't know, but don't thik so... There are better places, with better food and much better attention in San Cristobal

We were a group of five and undecided on where to go for dinner. Very eclectic menu ranging from Italian, Mexican, Vegetarian and Meat options. This was our second night in a row at Tierradentro for this reason.Very reasonably priced..hey, it's hard to complain with a California glass of wine for 24 pesos ($2.00usd)! Service was good despite a busy... More

We were here with some friends and we really enjoyed the place and the atmosphere, it is a cosy, lively and nice place, with a super friendly staff. Food is good but somewhat average, especially if you pick something that is not a Mexican specialty. Worth giving a try knowing what to expect.

Enjoyed a light meal here. The service was good and the food was fresh and tasty. Kept thinking we would get back for a second time, but didn´t make it. Would recommend.

I wrote an earlier review in which I complained of the slow and inefficient service here. Since then this has improved and I withdraw my complaint. This is a basic and inexpensive reataurant that is very popular and sometimes quite noisy because of the multitude and the itinerant musicians, who are sometimes good or bad, but always loud. There is... More

Their menu is rather spotty they have some really tasty items and some items that seem rather poor in quality. Their pizzas are really good and they have a vegan pizza on their menu. Also one with eggplant that is quite tasty that can be ordered cheeseless. I also get their calzone with more veggies in place of cheese really... More

Lively place to eat dinner. Livebands every night. The food was good, loads of veggie options, and quick service considering how busy it was!

TierrAdentro is a larger space ringed with interesting little tiendas. It is known as a Zapatista restaurant and has that feel. The menu is extensive, with shrimp perhaps the tastiest meal I've had, but everything is good. This is casual dining, not gourmet, but I like it. Prices are lower-moderate, service is good and friendly. There is often live music,... More
