Good Place

We had lunch at Fogon de Jovel, the menu is quite extensive. The place is very typical of Chiapas, live music with a marimba, there is a girl making tortillas in a big comal, beside our table, which we enjoyed. The food is good, typical of Chiapas. Service was ok, the waiter tried to make the... read more

It's a tourist type restaurant that basically encompasses all of Chiapas in one restaurant. The Menu is huge and portions are big, but not much quality. I ordered cecina and the meat really wasn't too appetizing, ended up leaving more than half of it, took a while to finally digest it. Service was poor, and they don't take credit cards.... More

I think This is the restaurant located across the street from the Jade Museum. The Jade museum has information in English which is huge since everything else is only in Spanish. The restaurant has all the local indigenous foods. We ate there several nights. The atmosphere is also very local. A must for all visiting San Cristobal

We had to wait 30 minutes to get a table, so that gives you an idea about how popular this restaurant is. The menu is so extensive that is difficult to choose a dish. The waiter was so busy that it was difficult to get his attention but he was fast and efficient. The food is typical of Chiapas. One... More

We had our first dinner in Chiapas at the fogon in san cristobal. Food is delicious with traditional plates from Chiapas. Don't forget to taste the posh! Very nice. Service good

We went here with great expectations and out of the four main dishes we ordered two were un edible. We had to return them a fact that was ignored by the waiter and the rest of the organization. The cochito and the enchiladas were good. I consider it not worth the money we were charged. The appetizers were minuscule. The... More

This is the place to go, order their specialty dish and you will get more meat then you can eat. Overall quality of the food is average. Waiters are friendly and the local music is not my taste. Not much of fine dining, really very touristic place.

There's music, huipiles, good food, several beverages. It is a restaurante and a museum, with marimba music, folk singers and nice service, in an old and beautiful building. A must for this city. Across the Street you can visit the Jade Museum, and also shop jewelry.

I asked for a parrillada with a selection of different meats, including arrachera (flank stake or tip stake) the meat was very hard and dry that I couldn't eat it, also I asked for mushrooms with cheese and they were not fresh they were from a can. Very disappointed!
