Popular, fun, with caveats.

Great open courtyard, delicious sounding menu, lots of really big salads. Pitchers of juice and beer, good margaritas. We have over several visits enjoyed many dishes, as well as the convivial atmosphere. BUT, make sure you have time. It took nearly 1 1/2 hours to get our food this last time and... read more

Food was OK. Service was abysmal. Waiters were rude and surly. Our waiter spent most of his time eating his dinner at the bar. Probably the first time in twenty years of travel I did not leave a tip. Usually 20% even if the food is just OK; wait person cannot help that most likely.

We just love the place. Great service and delicious food. Try the roast pork for dinner with cream apple sauce. Friendly atmosphere just a bit north of Santo Domingo church one block over. Very reasonable prices (as is all of Oaxaca).

Went to Biznaga in Oaxaca. Happy, lively place with generally hipper-looking clientele, if that's a plus. Food we had was not great. Seems that reservations are often necessary, but why bother.

Oaxaca is of course known as a culinary destination. Many great restaurants. La Biznaga was absolutely the very best. I had a stuffed chicken breast that was to die for. My wife has a tomato allergy......not the easiest to deal with in Mexico.... when mentioned to the waiter, the care and concern for her enjoyment of her meal was over... More

The reviews are right when they say the service isn't very good. They aren't rude, just frustratingly invisible and inattentive. Negative out of the way thought the foods great, the space is lovely and and they have a good selection of drinks including wine. I expected it to be more expensive than it was too so all good.

We used to love biznaga. Even though the service part was imperfect and inconsistent. But, now the table service folks don't even try. I think the food has slipped a notch or two. It feels like they are just tired of serving tourist. And, the room still gets full, so why make any effort? ..maybe some pride of ownership is... More

It's a rare treat for a Canadian to be able to eat cactus and plantain. I had these served with chicken breast and mole - very tasty. My partner had a creamy bean soup with 2 cheeses and tortillas, plus a salad, all attractively presented. Service was fast if indifferent.

The food is good here without being great. We had lunch for two for thirty dollars including a beer and a cocktail. The restaurants is set in a nice courtyard and serves authentic Mexican cuisine. Staff are lovely and very helpful. The Pina Colada cocktail was excellent.

The atmosphere was really nice. It appeals to all ages and was busy the whole time we were there. They have a well stocked bar and a varied menu. Be sure to ask what comes with your meal though as mine was just a chicken breast in a sea of apple sauce...
