We have visited Oaxaca every winter for 2-3 months for the last 5 or 6 years. Oaxaca has some of the best food you'll come across and there are several very good Italian restaurants. Mexita has recently moved (not sure the exact date but I believe in the last few years) from a location North of the downtown core. It... More

Sorry folks, but we have tried this restaurant twice and really feel it is totally overrated! The first time we visited, we were welcomed by the owner and made to feel very welcome. We ordered our food and three of the four of us received it in a timely manner. Some of us tried to wait for the third meal... More

Having been raised in an Italian family, I can only say positive things about this place. For those of you who love Oaxacan food, this is a wonderful break. If you are like me and a little Oaxacan food goes a long way, then try this. We went twice in one week, loved the strozzapreti alla siciliana, Margarita pizza, cannelloni,... More

A wonderful meal, but very expensive for Oaxaca and I choose to pay by credit card and they added IVA when you pay by credit card and no IVA when paid by cash. My teenage daughter and I had no alcohol , shared a salad, each had a main plate and shared a dessert and our bill was over 700... More

We enjoyed this place immensely. The singer was very present and very charming. Homemade everything from wine and pizza to bread and pasta. Excellent service. Very nice atmosphere. We ate in court yard so we could watch the pizza making. Great fun.

as an italian i must say this restaurant ticked all the boxes for me: the food was great, we were looked after properly and i truly enjoyed the evening. the pizzas are authentic and ask for the 'strozzapreti alla siciliana', a wonderful pasta dish that always delivers goes without saying, like any other restaurant, try to go and eat early... What? Italian in Oaxaca? Yes. Not only Italian but excellent Italian. We needed something different and so we went to Mexita after reading about it. The owner is from Napoli, the food delicious and the homemade limoncello and amaretto was the perfect finish to a very good dinner. It hit the spot!!

Overall ambiance was great- love the wood burning pizza oven! We only came here because of the reviews on Tripadvisor and were kind of disappointed. Food wasn't bad but it wasn't great but I have to say, we only stuck to the pizza dishes. I also do come from NYC, home of great Italian food and I should have known... More

this restaurant is a bit away from the zocalo, but worth a visit for fine italian dining. Enrico, the pizza chef is excellent, making most of his ingredients in the restaurant. while there we ordered two pizzas and a salad. the house wine, also home made is delicious and we got a second to take away. the whole family is... I have not had a better meal. We went early 7ish and it did not get busy until 8ish. They also make there own wine, but my... More
