Sandwich in the park

Sometimes in Oaxaca it is hard to get a "little something" instead of a full meal. We are very careful about eating street food but we had heard so much about this place we had to try. A sandwich on a big roll is around 22pesos, they come plainer and more full. Roll is spread with black beans, has... read more

Arrived at La Hormiga after two recommendations to find a line of people that moved quickly, a large and varied menu, good prices, good service and GOOD FOOD. Lots of places in the park to sit and eat too.

The line is long for a good reason, but it moves quickly so STAY. Get your food to go or eat there in the park. You really can't miss. Excellent tortas, inexpensive. The ambiance is wherever you decide to eat.

La Hormiga is a great food cart located at Conzatti Park--my favorite plaza in Oaxaca. You know you're in for something good when the locals line up every day at all times of the day for one of the best sandwiches in Oaxaca. The menu is just tortas, with lots of interesting and delicious combinations. You give your order, pay,... More

This very popular place has very good tortas (sandwich on a roll) It took the help of a local to put in my order but it was worth it.

We ate here a couple years ago when we saw how many locals were lined up waiting for their food. They've perfected the process. There are menus, you order and pay and are given a handwritten receipt. When your name is called your food is handed to you on a plastic plate. There are spicy condiments and small boiled potatoes... More

Go for it! Really nice to eat it in the park. You have the choice of having it on a red plastic plate which you need to return or in a brown bag. Lots of sides on offer.

They are located at Conzatti Park, for me as the best tortas, there might be a line, but employees tries their best to get your food ASAP. If you want to try some local flavor this is the place

We lined up with a lot of other folks on a Saturday afternoon to get one of the famous Hormiga tortas and they didn't disappoint. We ordered the Queso with chicken and the Queso with pork. Yummy.

I would not recommend a street vendor unless they were recommended by others and safe for gringos. This food trailer, always at the SE corner of Conzatti park, serves tasty Tortas, the Mexican answer to the sub sandwich or the philly cheese steak. The large bun is stuffed with a vegetable mixture to which you add your choice of meats.... More
