Okay, this place is fine for what it is, but why you would go here to experience so-so "American" food when you are in the heart of the best Mexican cuisine in the world is beyond me. After eating at two great Oaxacan style restaurants (Catederal and Pitiona) we gave this place a try on the advice of a couple... More

We keep going back and what do we find? Personalized service, the best home made salad dressing, home made buns, great price for the meal of day, delicious home made salsa, great music selections that are played at just the right volume so you can still carry on a conversation. The various chicken dishes I have tried were all great... More

This family is so proud of their restaurant, mama's recipes and the way they work together -they should be. The refreshing salad to start the meal had a fabulous dressing and was just perfect. We all enjoyed our meal, and even ended up buying some of mama's salsa to take home.

My wife and I are on our honeymoon. We are in Oaxaca to literally get away from it all and explore another culture. We've tried pulque, churros and mole negro. We are stuffed and happy. When we sat down at El Quinque it seemed everyone was eating hamburgers. What? Hamburgers? Yup, and they are great. Juicy, full of flavour and... More

I wasn't happy when we arrived at 8:30pm on a Thursday and were told that they close at 8. They implied that most places close at 8 around there, which we found not to be true. But I made the effort to come back another day for lunch, and it was well worth it. I had the hamburger since many... More

This family owned ' mama's cooking' quainte restaurant has the best of everything: the best ever service by Carlos, his mama's homemade deserts and the most wonderful atmosphere as a small place in a tranquil part of the city'. I did not mention the food, as I cannot put in words how good and fresh it is. When in Oaxaca... More

Thank you Trip Advisor for turning us on to this restaurant. We were staying at a hotel right around the corner and the front desk staff gave us all the major restaurants heading to the Zocalo area. Then I decided to check out Trip Advisor and seen El Quinque was a tiro de esquina (corner kick) away from our hotel.... More

Quinque has the best hamburgers in Oaxaca, served with roasted potatoes. They don't have many tables but they are always full at lunch. English is spoken and the staff is friendly. The pastas, salads and daily specials are also also excellent. I have eaten there with friends many times and never had a bad meal or bad service. Check it... More

Some of the best cafe food anywhere. The hamburgers are great (make their own buns!), and the ribs at lunch is Saturday are worth a trip of their own. Thanksgiving dinner last week was superb-right down to the cranberry sauce.
