A local baker told me to try this spot and so I did. What a lovely meal, creative , delicious and great values. Perfect size in a nice area up the walking street. Great food, small restaurant, waiter (may be the owner) speaks good English. I had the salmon which came with lots of yummy veg and potatoes, others had burgers which they both loved. Lots of other good fish options.

We 3 friends were directed to El Quinque by our hosts in Oaxaca, and liked it so much that we went back 3 times! It's a tiny, but cozy family-run restaurant located centrally in the historic district. The host speaks fluent English and is very friendly and accommodating. The food is scrumptious and comes in very generous portions. We have... More

Everything is in the title: expensive, not particularly local or traditional... Best of all, the waiter/owner accepts people depending on his mood - ok at 7pm, no longer at 8pm (still with free places), again ok at 9pm ... you will probably be accepted if lucky enough! Many others places elsewhere...

The food here is wonderful. I had the salmon (cooked perfectly), and my dining companion had the flank steak. Both were great. The owner is very friendly and speaks perfect English. The only downfall is that they don't serve beer or wine - but if you bring your own, he'll open it and supply the glasses.

We enjoyed the friendly owners and the sensational fresh and delicious food offerings. The hibiscus water to start was unusual and a real treat as were the delicious burgers, creative and healthy salads [with fabulous home made salad dressing!] and ribs. The Saturday afternoon BBQ was not to be missed! Carlos, one of the owners even rode home on his... More

This place was wonderful. They do not serve alcohol, but we were told we could bring our own wine or beer, and since we're not competing, there is no corkage fee. We were too late for la comida, the fixed price meal, and were told that the camarones, salmon, and flank steak were their best dishes. So, my husband and... More

As American's and first time visitors here, we found a jewel at this neighborhood family restaurant. Lots of locals come by and dine as well as travelers like us. We were able to sample local main dishes with a healthy dose of American style vegetables and salads. We learned to appreciate the agua fresca, and especially appreciated that it was... More

The food here is good, but with so many great places to eat in oaxaca, I have to say this restaurant is just average. The food is pretty Americanized, which is totally fine if that is what you are looking for. Those looking for a more authentic eating experience should look elsewhere. The owner is also a bit surly which... More
