We ate there twice in 3 days, so that tells you how much we enjoyed it! Had salmon the first night, which was cooked perfectly. Had the hamburger the second night - again excellent. One thing to note is that they don't serve booze, but you can bring your own beer or wine, and they don't charge corkage. This is... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by the people we stayed with. We went to try their hamburgers (typical americans) because we heard they were very unique. We ended up trying two other things on the menu that blew us away. The best part about this place is the hospitality - the Mother is in the kitchen cooking up the... More

We were walking back to Palomita after a long day of Guelaguetza activities and saw the door open, sat down. We soon realized that the restaurant was closed and stood to leave when the welcoming host insisted that we order dinner. Glad we did. What a treat it was! Great food, gracious staff and we returned 3 times- a magic... More

A simple twist of fate, walking in a different direction to reach Calle Macedonia Alcala through Los Arcos, and there on the corner was El Quinque. On this first of many visits, we ordered macaroni and cheese, spaghetti with olive oil and garlic, and prawns and Quinque potatoes. We were so delighted with that meal that El Quinque became our... This was the best restaurant on our one-month trip to Mexico City, Puebla and Oaxaca. We had some fine dining experiences that also had amazing food, but those are elitist and exclusionary. Here the food is great, the price is reasonable, and they attract locals as well as tourists. Carlos, one of the owners, is high energy, everywhere at once,... More

Little restaurant with nice staff, the food is good and I considered it healthy, they have fresh veggies, hamburgers and good dessert. I think you feel like having mom's food, just feels like home. It is close to Santo Domingo.

A lovely homely restaurant with good service and nice ambiance. Unpretentious, just good food, well cooked and served in a pleasant atmosphere. I recommend it.

We enjoy having lunch at El Quinque for several reasons 1) the food is always super fresh and good, with inventive "prix fixes" lunches 2) the staff is very pleasant as are the people we perceive as being the owners On one occasion, it took a while to get our meal, they immediately apologized and offered us a free dessert,... A neighborhood place that was recommended to me by a 27 year resident of Oaxaca. Thick, tender fish filet! You can bring in your own wine. Enough for leftovers, too!
