A lovely homely restaurant with good service and nice ambiance. Unpretentious, just good food, well cooked and served in a pleasant atmosphere. I recommend it.

We enjoy having lunch at El Quinque for several reasons 1) the food is always super fresh and good, with inventive "prix fixes" lunches 2) the staff is very pleasant as are the people we perceive as being the owners On one occasion, it took a while to get our meal, they immediately apologized and offered us a free dessert,... A neighborhood place that was recommended to me by a 27 year resident of Oaxaca. Thick, tender fish filet! You can bring in your own wine. Enough for leftovers, too!

Okay...we have found here in Oaxaca that as a general rule, every third meal is a disaster in many of the restaurants. Not so at El Quinque. We have been waiting to write a review just in case we were disappointed. We have been in town for five months and this is our reliable 'local'. We are always made welcome... More

The range of choices is not great but we have always been able to find something that fits our needs. Generally the servings are large and lead to a take home for the next day. Tthe food is interesting, sort of modern Mexican, and always delicious. You can bring your own wine and there is an excellent wine specialty store... More

Changing up of the menu…is what I always enjoyed….I'm a retired chef, and love to be inspired. Best darned hamburger in town also….. Hard working, but laid back chef and brother server/manager? Wonderful Fish, Pork, with a quasi Mexican flair with true European sensibilities I'm not returning to Mexico, as I've other countries on the Big List….but I somehow think... More

This is near the Villa del Campo; small restaurant which opens for a late breakfast and closes early. Very much of a neighborhood place.

This little gem of a restaurant was right around the corner from the B&B that we are staying at. We have eaten there twice and thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. We have had their salads, hamburger, lasagna and special of the day BBQ ribs. The pork ribs were fall off the bone tender with an incredible sauce. Probably... More

For our last meal in Oaxaca we opted for El Quinque. At the time of going it was slightly higher up the TripAdvisor rankings but I'm not sure why. What it has going in its favour is that its cheap and you can bring your own booze. The menu is pretty average with a selection of burgers and loosely Mexican... More
