Excellent food, highly recommended

It's easy to get trapped by nice architecture restaurants in Oaxaca with not so exquisite food. Pitiona is one of those places that is beautiful, service is excellent and food exquisite!!!! Try the 6 times menu

Pitiona is one of the most creative restaurants I've had the pleasure of dining at and I was nearly overwhelmed with every dish. As an appetizer, I had the ceviche stuffed avocado which was actually a frozen mousse shell which enclosed the ceviche. My suckling pig entrée was one of the most delicious pork dishes I've every had, crispy on... More

The modernist cuisine you'll find here is a bit more expensive than other very good restaurants in Oaxaca, but worth the visit. Very interesting modern food but with deep roots in traditional Oaxacan cuisine in a beautiful setting.

Arrived without a reservation one evening. The place mostly empty. Said there was no room to dine in as too many reservations. Hard to believe that this was the message for a diner and I did not see anyone lining up for their reservation. Who needs it, enough other great places in Oaxaca to visit and have a fine meal.

We just had dinner there, we went with our two kids, 5 and 3 yo, and the waiters were very kind and patient with them. They offered food more appealing to the little ones (delicious, by the way), and my husband and I enjoyed delicious tacos de lechón and fish with mole! I loved the mango water, delicious salsas and... More

Occupying the gorgeous building that was Indigo Art Gallery for many years, Pitiona has ambiance in spades. Unfortunately, we found the service to be stiff and unhelpful (seeming to take themselves much too seriously) and the food was a bit pretentious at times too. Many dishes were quite good (I liked the duck pretty well, others in our party enjoyed... More

I just completed my fourth visit to Oaxaca, and still am basking in the glow of the city's magic. I can't think of a city anywhere of similar size that has such a range of truly remarkable restaurants as does Oaxaca. The food there, from the traditional to the modern fusion, is a feast for the senses. Of the several... More

A more expensive meal, but wow! Service was attentive and efficient by all the staff. Margaritas were smooth and delicious. Wine selection was good and the Pitiona we drank went down very easy. The food delivered on all counts and we did not find the portion sizes small, in fact the meat serving was very generous. I am gluten intolerant... More

Creatively prepared and presented food but tiny portions, especially for the prices. The wine list was not excellent for this calibre of resto - 3 oz glass was almost $9! Sorry to say we left hungry and disappointed.
