La Vaca que Quiso Ser Cabra is a large fillet seared in a goat cheese..."skin," and it is delicious. The pork cheeks are also pretty great. The service is outstanding. When a large group entered our dining room with a loud baby, the staff was more than happy to move us to another room at my request.

We had our best meal in the city at Pitiona. Went there for almuerzo. The food was increadible. They take traditional Oaxacan dishes and raise them to a new, artisan level. This is a higher end restaurant in terms of price, but well worth it. Take your time and plan on staying a while, and enjoy their unusal appetizers, wonderful... More

I was leaning toward giving this 3 stars, but I gave it 4 because I think that while my expectations were not completely met, the food was actually good. As it is labeled a gastronomic experience and you should plan to experience each course as a concoction of art and flavors depending on the season, there is a high bar... More

They and Casa Oaxaca probably serve the best food in town. Very nice setting in rooms overlooking pedestrian street. Very nice service and wonderful presentations of food.

Definitely worth more than four stars on trip advisor. The restaurant is high end by oaxaca standards, but the price is reasonable for the quality of food and the service; the two of us paid just under £60 total for 3 starters, two mains and 3 glasses of wine each. The dishes are innovative and really delicious. The waiters are... More

Dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine: 1,400 Pesos This is slightly more than you will pay at other restaurants in Oaxaca of similar quality. But there is no other restaurant in this town that focuses on molecular gastronomy. Every dish is plated beautifully. Ribeye: Beautiful piece of meat, generous size, cooked and seasoned perfectly Octupus: One of the... More

Excellent food (had the "safe" choice of mole), service, location and atmosphere. Easily my favorite restaurant in Oaxaca, hope to be back if I'm ever in Oaxaca again.

Pitiona spacious and nicely decorated dining areas are in an old colonial home. The comfortable atmosphere is complemented by very competent staff. The food is tasty and nicely presented. The sampler plate is a good opportunity to try the different dishes that have at their origin Oaxacan flavors. The restaurant also has a nice variey of mezcals.

We told them than one of our party was pregnant and they didn't care, they gave us a smoking table and a guy was smoking a cigar... We decided to stay because we were so excited about... More

Dinner at Pitiona was one of the highlights of our trip. The food was exceptional, the service was outstanding and the atmosphere wonderful. Great mezcal selection. Highly recommend the lechon tacos and the churros made tableside are an experience.
