Excellent food, highly recommended

We just happened upon this restaurant as we wandered the streets trying to find somewhere good to eat. We were very lucky to come across it and that they had a table free, as we arrived early in the evening. The restaurant is in an interesting building and tables are distributed across several... read more

The inviting facade, and a reputable review about the "ambitious gastronomie" at Pitiona we had read in advance of our trip, had us really looking forward to Pitiona. What a pity the food and service were such a bust. First, the building and ambience are beautiful, but that doesn't set Pitiona apart in Oaxaca, which is rich with such nice... More

This restaurant is an outrageous rip-off. The white wine by the glass is 75 pesos, but you can purchase an entire bottle of the same wine for 98 pesos. The charge for each glass is almost equal to the price of an entire bottle--imagine that! This is way more than the usual restaurant mark-up. A very small side salad with... More

Another great restaurant in Oaxaca. Had the lechon tacos and would no doubt have them again. The place and food are a bit pretentious, but the food is worth it. Also try thr octopus tostada, nice combination.

It's easy to get trapped by nice architecture restaurants in Oaxaca with not so exquisite food. Pitiona is one of those places that is beautiful, service is excellent and food exquisite!!!! Try the 6 times menu

Pitiona is one of the most creative restaurants I've had the pleasure of dining at and I was nearly overwhelmed with every dish. As an appetizer, I had the ceviche stuffed avocado which was actually a frozen mousse shell which enclosed the ceviche. My suckling pig entrée was one of the most delicious pork dishes I've every had, crispy on... More

The modernist cuisine you'll find here is a bit more expensive than other very good restaurants in Oaxaca, but worth the visit. Very interesting modern food but with deep roots in traditional Oaxacan cuisine in a beautiful setting.

Arrived without a reservation one evening. The place mostly empty. Said there was no room to dine in as too many reservations. Hard to believe that this was the message for a diner and I did not see anyone lining up for their reservation. Who needs it, enough other great places in Oaxaca to visit and have a fine meal.

We just had dinner there, we went with our two kids, 5 and 3 yo, and the waiters were very kind and patient with them. They offered food more appealing to the little ones (delicious, by the way), and my husband and I enjoyed delicious tacos de lechón and fish with mole! I loved the mango water, delicious salsas and... More

Occupying the gorgeous building that was Indigo Art Gallery for many years, Pitiona has ambiance in spades. Unfortunately, we found the service to be stiff and unhelpful (seeming to take themselves much too seriously) and the food was a bit pretentious at times too. Many dishes were quite good (I liked the duck pretty well, others in our party enjoyed... More
