I just completed my fourth visit to Oaxaca, and still am basking in the glow of the city's magic. A more expensive meal, but wow! Service was attentive and efficient by all the staff. Margaritas were smooth and delicious. Wine selection was good and the Pitiona we drank went down very easy. The food delivered on all counts and we did not find the portion sizes small, in fact the meat serving was very generous. I am gluten intolerant... More

Creatively prepared and presented food but tiny portions, especially for the prices. The wine list was not excellent for this calibre of resto - 3 oz glass was almost $9! Sorry to say we left hungry and disappointed.

We literally just happened upon this restaurant tonight and have agreed it was our best meal of the week! The restaurant itself is fairly spread out across rooms and floors, resulting in a little less crowded feeling. Service is excellent; it's clear that the staff are well trained. The sommelier (Lorena) had a great sense of humor and made us... More

I thought that this was the best meal that we had on our Mexico trip. This may be familiarity bias: Pitiona was the most like a well-managed European restaurant. My abiding memory is of their house red wine, which was really really delicious. The rosé Casa Madero V, admittedly remembered from the tasting menu at Origen, also went great with... More

I ordered a fish that was excellent and had a potato puree that was also excellent. However... only 1 tablespool of puree and a tiny piece of fish. My partner ordered meat and received 2 huge chunks of meat and 1 teaspoon of puree, plus 1 green leave. The food tastes good, but the servings are unbalanced and too small.

Reading a recent review that stated the restaurant overlooks Santo Domingo Church with a club nearby prompted me to write to correct this error. The restaurant overlooks part of the Quinta Real Hotel. Santo Domingo is a block and a half north . Perhaps the reviewer was thinking of Casa Oaxaca whose bar and terrace provides a view of the... We had not been to Oaxaca for a few years so when I realized one of my favorite galleries was no longer at this location I was disappointed. The property is so beautiful I urged my husband to just take a peek inside with me to see what was happening. The restaurant was just opening for the day. We asked... More

Good first floor restaurant overlooking San Domingo- next to a bar with live jazz playing which was rather good one removed- just the right volume! Menu is creative and well cooked. Unfortunately the camarone ceviche was too salty but they took the plates away without question and return with a fresh plate with reduced salt and very good.
