Fabulous fine dining in central Oaxaca

An unexpected find in central Oaxaca close to Zocalo for a special dining experience. The setting in the building in amazing, buzzy without all the tables being on top of each other, smart but unpretentious and relaxed. Food was wonderful, with one exception! The pork tostada, duck avocado... read more

All of the traditional Oaxacan ingredients elevated to new levels, outstanding flavors.. Mexican cooks have always accepted new new tastes and techniques into their traditional recipes either through experimentation or foreigners. The chef understands the basics and add news twists to time honored recipes which makes everything taste new again. Thanks for the taste experiences and do try the Nitro... More

If you like tasty, fresh and complex-flavored food in reasonable portion-sizes, you'll be very happy eating at Pitiona! This is not a place for those who value huge quantities over quality taste. For the 3 of us from NYC and Montreal, this was a memorable meal and a place where we will return on our next visit. In fact, we... More

Strange flavors, unfriendly mechanized service, overpriced and small portions. We tried two specialty cocktails and two appetizers and then left.

My boyfriend and I dined at Pitiona for our anniversary and we're expecting a knock your socks off meal, unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. This does not, however, mean the meal was bad. The pork gorditas were fantastic. The had a rich, meaty flavor and was my favorite dish of the night. When ordering, we encountered a significant... More

I visited this restaurant with my family in January 2016. Excellent food. One thing about Oaxaca is that it could be the organic supplier for all Mexico. Almost everything in Oaxaca is organic. Try the pork belly tacos and Mezcal and local brewed beer

The service is ok, the food good unless the fideo soup, you can eat the same at any mexican household for 10 pesos, this one is overprices and nthing special, specially if you are mexican and are used to this flavour from home. We ordered around 5 mezcals and none were available, run out of them according to the waiter.... More

Interesting decor, fabulous food, great service. Must try molotes istmenos, and tacos de lechon. Quiet, and good for conversation.

Guests at the B&B suggested this little spot and I"m so glad I went. The food was delicious, modern, and super upscale. It was a nice retreat. I highly recommend. I didn't like the automatic pour of expensive bottled water however, hence the 4 stars... Other than that, it was terrific!

On a recent visit to Oaxaca, I could not have been more excited to return to Pitiona. Especially since my guest had never been before. We decided to "go all out" and order the 9 course tasting menu with the drink pairings. On the plus side, most of the food ranged from good to great. The portion sizes, however, were... More
