Dinner at Pitiona was one of the highlights of our trip. The food was exceptional, the service was outstanding and the atmosphere wonderful. Great mezcal selection. Highly recommend the lechon tacos and the churros made tableside are an experience.

I tried the 6 course chef's menu. The food was amazing, the pork tacos were the best. They also have a great variety of homemade mezcal. The prices were fair for what you get. Must try it.

Oaxacan food really taken into a new, surprising level. It was the most sophisticated food I had the pleasure to taste in Oaxaca. The place is unpretentious but beautiful, service is very attentive and focused on the exquisite dishes they serve. Have a look at the amazing tableware, made by local designers. Best in town. (would be nice if some... More

Celebrating anniversary. Off season. Monday. World Cup. No matter... this superb restaurant any time proved itself all over again. Superb interpretations of classic Mexican -- such as mole chichilo this time with fish -- with rare wonderful lamb. Everything fresh and organic. Rare mescals, superb Mexican wines. Attentive and intelligent service. What we always knew -- but over the top.... More

We were really looking forward to our meal based on reviews of this restaurant, but found disappointing food and a very overpriced menu. A small shrimp salad laden with chicharrones, slivers of cucumber, and too much dressing was 140 pesos. The Cow that Wanted to be a Goat, a pretentious name for a small serving of steak with goat cheese... More

Great food, nice setting on one of the main Oaxaca streets, and good ambiance (we asked to be seated upstairs --avoid the bar area). Amazing flavors and fusions. We loved the "Vaca que quiso ser Cabra" (amazing- died for it), the pork tacos (a bit heavy though for the evening) and the smoked fish (such a nice presentation!). Loved it.

The food was excellent and the presentation aesthetically pleasing, as expected from this top-rated restaurant. However, I felt the ambiance could use a little work. We ate in the bar area which felt like it could be in any city in the world. In my opinion, it lacked the traditional Mexican feel of other Oaxaca establishments.

I had the suckling pig tacos and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Living in Oaxaca for awhile, I was craving a good, succulent pork dish. Loved the crispy skin too. We had the octopus tostado ....again a home run. Loved the fusion of flavors. We also had the shrimp cerviche with the watermelon. Very unexpected and... More

The restaurant looks great and the menu seems very interesting. We reserved two days in advance and asked for a specific table on the smoking section (I know, filthy habit, but there you have it...). The process was smooth for our 915pm reservation, and the staff specified a 15 minute window. We arrived at 930, and our table had already... More
