Pleasant atmosphere in the backyard, varied tasting menu

This pleasant family-run home-style restaurant in the Reforma neighborhood (north of the Centro) provides a tasting menu with which you can while away the afternoon in their backyard. The food is good overall, but not especially creative or inspired. Not every dish will be to your taste, but... read more

The food is excellent cause it have the taste of homemade but the price is too much We taste the menu that the owner recommend us and when the check arrived it was 2000 pesos for 6 person and the amount of food was super small When we check the menu the prices weren't as expensive as in our check... When I arrived I had no idea what I was going to eat. The outside of the restaurant looks very simple and I didn't expect much of that place. It's a little house where you can eat either inside or in the backyard. They served us several dishes like tamales, beef with Coloradito mole, pork with black mole, and others.... More

Get the Tasting menu and be prepared to spend some time. Each of the several courses is served separately with the server politely waiting to bring the next course when you are ready. The setting is in a small, tropical garden with only 5 or 6 tables - no loud music, nothing to distract from enjoying the well-prepared dishes of... More

We have gone to La Teca each year we are in Oaxaca and they haven't disappointed us in the last couple years. The garnachas are very tasty as are the molotes. The tamales de cambray are very good, much better than the same ones at Zandunga. We had a fish called Lisa on the grill, which wasn't on the menu... More

No surprises here, overrated and overpriced. Nice, eating in someone's home, family cooking style. $85.00US for 4 people seemed high in comparison w/o drinks or dessert.

La teca was recommended to us by a Chef so we took notice, it´s istmo food wich is a little different from traditional Oaxacan food. The tasting menu was great, as a suggestion make reservations and ask for a table in the patio. If mosquitoes bother you maybe some repellent. Have the address when you take a taxi as ours... More

Disclaimer: I was invited to La Teca by a friend of the owner so I can't say our experience was "typical" but I truly don't think they went and cooked anything just for us. Some of the food we had takes hours to cook so I am quite sure we were served the same food anyone else would have been.... More

We just had this tasting menu, and it was wonderful. I wish we had gone on our first day to familiarize ourselves with a variety of foods. I saw some bad reviews from last year, but they must have been taken into account by the restaurant because I had a very different experience. The courtyard is beautiful and small, and... More
