Description: I ate at many of the restaurants listed in trip advisor over an 8 day period in Oaxaca. Decided to try this place because it was always crowded with the mixture of Mexican and non Mexican tourists. The food was from the isthmus of Mexico. Authenic but different than the usual Oaxacan cuisine which became repetitious after a while. The food was different, with a lot of " I wonder how they make this sauce, dip, drink?" It was not fusion gitzy food that a lot of the higher rated restaurants on your trip advisor restaurant list present to the tourists.

This is a beautifully designed restaurant filled with local, young-ish (under 45) professionals. A funky atmosphere that is serious about its food and wine but doesn't take ITSELF too seriously. The menu is Mexican with an accent on being different from the rest, with exceptional quality. Highly recommend if food and atmosphere is your thing.

Great istmeño cuisine restaurant with laid back ambiance and prices! I really liked their huge mezcal selection, I had the house mezcal (cuixe/espadín) and my favorite Jolgorio Tepeztate! From their menu las garnachas are a must!!

La Zanduga mostly serves food from the Istmo, I really like as appetizer corn tamales and garnachas, and as main course I had the estofado de boda istemeña which was delicious. They also have a great selection of Mezcales, if you don't know what to order get the tasting of 3 mezcales, or just order the house mezcal which is... More

Food was delectable and a real and authentic representation of Istmo cuisine. You will like the simplicity and rusticity of Istmo food, yet full of unique spicy and sweet notes. Why I do not give the restaurant five stars? Food deserves more than five stars and maybe a million!! But service is truly bad. Staff is friendly and gentle, but... More

What a desillusion.. We had been recommended this restaurant and were sorry to realize that the food is just average, and the price exorbitant. $MEX160 for a sort of eggplant caviar (their "specialty" meal) that would not even feed a child. The quantity was ridiculous, served with huge salad leaves, as if this was supposed to be a proper "meal".... More

Went here specialy for the garnachas which is like a little tosada with meat on the top, it is part of the itsmo cuisine, wow, i was impressed, it was amazing, the prices are quite good, and i also had a tamal in there, i just loved it. I would recomend to have a reservation because it gets VERY crowded!

This was our third stop in Oaxaca and we came away thinking our first three meals were three of the best meals we had ever had. There was nothing to dislike, they offered a number of regional specialties and mezcal. This was our introduction to the Tlayuda and the only empanadas of the entire trip.

This was one of my favorite spots in Oaxaca. The food is mostly traditional Oaxacan fare, and is very fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The drinks are outstanding. We went several times in the afternoon just to sip drinks, cool off, and enjoy the shady courtyard (with retractable roof in the unlikely event of a shower) and eclectic music. Zandunga can... More

Typical food that oaxaqueños usually tested in small stands. Banana Molotitos and "Garnachas" are delicious.

After having been to Oaxaca many times, we wanted to try a new (to us) restaurant. We decided to have an early dinner/late lunch there and we were not disappointed. The ambiance was pleasant, the service was good and we really enjoyed the food. They have a great selection of mescals at reasonable prices (even some of the mescals sold... More
