When I asked guests to join me for dinner in Oaxaca, I chose Casa Oaxaca. The view from the rooftop terrace is spectacular, and more important, the food is wonderful. Every time that I am in Oaxaca, I try to visit the restaurant at least once to order its succulent grilled octopus with corn fungus and rice as well as... More

Never disappointing. We had two meals. I had my favorite dish chiles de agua, usually an app but I ordered two for my entre. Amazing flavors. I also recommend the rabbit. Flavorful and well prepared. Service great. Only drawback to the roof is that it is dark so you cannot enjoy the presentation as much as in the downstairs where... More

The lack of lighting and the way it was handled was almost comical. We could not read the menu - even when moved to a 'better' table or offered the torch on the waiter's phone to decipher the menu. Then could not see what was on the plate either- of course made the salad a surprising experience! We ate better... More

Casa Oaxaca is generally considered to be the premier dining destination in Oaxaca City. It's certainly the most elegant, with a happening bar and scenic rooftop dining terrace offering enviable views of the Basilica of Santo Domingo and its adjoining square. The menu offers a modern take on traditional fare. We found the food to be surprisingly variable in quality... More

The food.... Oh my. I've never tasted such perfection! We stayed at the namesake hotel nearby and contemplated dining at the restaurant. But I had no idea what we were in for until we had a late dinner on the terrace one night. Delightful food, excellent mole, service was just ok (but the food warranted the excellent review). This is... More

Great service, wonderful ambience, creatively prepared food! Make a reservation to sit outside ...they have heaters if you get too cool. I have some food allergies (dairy) and they were eager to accommodate! Had the suckling pig, delicious, moist, tender...and the grilled vegetable salad, which included some very tasty non-earthy beets. A splurge by local standards, but moderate compared to... More

We ate here twice: both wonderful meals. Once for a lunch once for a beautiful candlelit meal. Terrific musicians playing in the downstairs lobby.

Four of us went to Casa Oaxaca restaurant for a special birthday dinner and it was an unforgettable experience. All four meals were generous, delicious and served with friendly professionalism. The chef is a genius. Don't confuse this with Casa Oaxaca Cafe (we also went there and it was wonderful in a more casual way), although the head chefs are... More
