Really loved sitting on the rooftop. Staff very friendly. Appetizers were very good. Margarita was very good. Did not like my main course but they replaced it without a problem. Unfortunately I didn't like the replacement meal either (duck). Desserts were very good. If I visited Oaxaca again, I would probably try this restaurant again.

In November 2013 I designed and hosted a special mezcal and beer lovers' cultural tour of Oaxaca for 16 people. Casa Oaxaca Restaurant was selected as the venue for our closing restaurant banquet. This was based upon a recommendation by a local expert and am I glad I listened to his advice! Because the focus of this tour was so... More

Great place to eat under the stars next to Santo Domingo and has a wonderfull view. The food is good and the staff a little slow getting started but overall I recommend this as one restraunts not to be missed in Oaxaca ,make reservations in advance as roof top dining books quickly and Impossible during special holidays and events. We... More

The setting, the food and the service were all top notch. Not inexpensive but not excessively pricey for the offerings.

I have been to this restaurant at least 6 times in my last two visits to Oaxaca. I would have gone more often, but it can be difficult to get a table sometimes. The food is consistently delicious , the food is visually artistic and the experience always produces ooh my gawd, reactions. The services is excellent without being too... More

I have heard a lot about Casa Oaxaca but I have never been because, frankly, it was out of my price range. I've been to Oaxaca five or six times and this last go-around we were treated there by friends. The setting cannot be better, it overlooks Convento de Santo Domingo, it is warmly lit, and the terrace is open,... More

We had a nice evening meal here recently. Loved our table and the view of the church and the city. We were not overly hungry and ordered appetizer, salad, and soup, much to the apparent dismay of our waiter, whom I gather was hoping for more expensive choices from us. We did enjoy Nieves for dessert and managed to ring... More

we enjoyed a lovely dinner on the rooftop one evening. we shared the Oaxacan appetizer platter which pretty much filled us up. We really didn't need much more food after that- fortunately we ordered light entrees- the duck tacos, blue bean soup. I would have gone back if were there longer- so, if you want to try the larger entrees,... More

Reviews here made us check it out. Disappointing, mediocre, BUT a great setting. Romantic, and very attentive service. Too bad about yhe grub. I ordered crispy duck tacos, which was oresented attractively, the our server dumped A LOT of mole on it, which drowned out any flavor, other yhan the mole. My sweetie had octopus, which he did not care... More

Maybe we ordered the wrong things but we left feeling like it wasn't the most wonderful experience we could have had. The food was nice but not exceptional. The service was okay.. we were seated in a less than wonderful location on the rooftop when there were other more wonderful locations that were never filled. I thought that is okay... More
