we came to celebrate or last night in oaxaca, and guys, this was not a celebration, this was a culinary festival, and even if it was not the best dinner we had in our long experienced culinary history, we will sure remember this fantastic feast . chefs recommended dishes were exceptionally good, large generous portions, soups were delicious, with a... We were lucky enough to spend a week in Oaxaca and chose this restaurant for our last meal. After lots of local food, a first class meal, lamb chops for me, ribeye for madame, was a nice change of pace. Both were well grilled, medium rare as we requested. For appetizers we chose the crab stuffed avocado, and were very... More

Some 30 years ago, I cemented my love for Oaxaca while dining on the balcony overlooking the Zocalo. Now I have lived in Oaxaca since I retired and El Asador Vasco is the first stop when introducing visitors to Oaxaca. The service is very friendly, and the staff has enjoyed watching my granddaughter grow up. Our favorite choices are the... More

We ate there one night, and we enjoyed it a lot. The restaurant is on the upper floor on the zocalo. We were seated by the balcony so we could enjoy the view from the zocalo. Mu husband and I both ordered arracheras (grilled meat) and it was good. Nice play to have dinner overlloking the zocalo

Ate here many years ago, was very good. Tonight two of our dinners were good, the steak with blue cheese sauce was tough, not cooked as ordered and the sauce awful. Endive salad good, onion soup as well. Service was very nice.

We were lucky to get a table with a view of the zocalo and all the activity below us. Service was friendly. We tried the grasshoppers and found them tasty and interesting. Margaritas compact but pack a punch.

If you are looking for a place where to have good lunch or dinner,I definitely recommend you to give them a chance , this place combines a great view of the main plaza, nice atmosphere, good and international dishes and super service. My recommendation is to reserve a balcony table especially for dinner, if you don't do so it will... More

Had the best roast lamb ribs. Amazing place with good music and views over the Zocalo. Kind of expensive for Oaxaca. $46 for two of us..but hey...its vacation!

Nice atmosphere. Original and typical native American dishes: delicious grasshoppers. Off course good marguerias and tasty old mezcals (posado). Nice view to the central town square Zcalo.

We were lucky to get a table overlooking the square on a Saturday night. A very good Mariachi band in the restaurant entertained us (from a distance) during the meal. We chose grilled meat dishes, as a bit of a change from Mexican traditional dishes and were well pleased! Overall, the food, service and atmosphere made the evening a treat.
