This was an "OMG" meal. The space is beautiful and the service was terrific, but the meal was an over the top "OMG how did the chef do this" experience. The small tamale appetizer was the best tamale I've had in my life -- EVER (and I'm something of a tamale connoisseur). My main course was a yellow molé with... More

Catedral restaurant on Garcia Vigil in Oaxaca is outstanding! I wanted to try the best local Mezcal, Tobasiche, next best, Espadin, with chili salt and orange slices-- it was perfecto! Tierra Blanca beer, also local, was excellent, but the food was magnificent! I want to try all the dishes on the menu (printed in English and Spanish, a real help),... More

One of the best meals I have had anywhere. This beautiful restaurant serves all seven moles as well as other Oaxacan specialties such as Tlayudas. The desserts were like artwork.

Except for the very high prices, most everything is very good at the Catedreal. This is the place to go if you want to impress your friends and you will when you pay the bill.

We ate at this restaurant on a recommendation from our hotel and we were glad we did! Amazing mole and other typical Oaxacan specialties including the most amazing nopales I have ever tasted! The restaurant also has a cute indoor patio with retractable roof which was great as it started to rain halfway through our meal and we didn't need... More

Everything was very good, I only hope the waiters could be better instructed in serving ways, but about the food and beverages, they were great!

Last night on cinqo de Mayo, we went to Catedral for a treat. The atmosphere was phenomenal! We were seated out in the atrium and entertained by a Mexican singer-guitarist with a soft voice. We decided to be a bit adventurous and start with the grasshoppers, which came with guacamole and corn tortillas. This was actually very delicious though became... More

Eat in the patio room outside....by the fountain. listen to the great live music,,,,eat the wonderful food, AND you won't regret it. We went twice during the week and both times were treated well, ate fabulous food, and enjoyed the whole place.

Oaxaca is known in Mexico for having one of the most flavorful cuisines in the country. Namely its mole, tamales, cesina and countless other magnificent food. Catedral is not only a very reasonably priced, very well located restaurant (one block from the cathedral and the tourist corridor "el andador"), it's service is first class and the food is just outstanding....
