This traditional, white tablecloth restaurant serves excellent food to a largely Mexican clientele. The food and service was more consistently good than in some of the more trendy upscale places in town that we ate at. Attentive service and pleasant live background music (a singer and guitar - soft enough not to be intrusive) in the nice interior courtyard. Starter... More

This place should definitely be considered by Michelin guide for a star! Service is impeccable. Waiters are incredibly attentive, food is exquisite, expertly prepared and perfectly seasoned. Desserts are a "can't miss. Black mole is awesome since turkey is organic and don't have to mess with fussy bones. Drinks are also quite good. Quick tip: reserve through OpenTable for dining... My wife and I ate an early lunch at the Restaurant Catedral and had perhaps the best Mexican mole meal we have ever experienced. The house special, an enchilada filled with raisins and almonds and covered with a dark mole sauce with a variety of subtle spices, was better than any I have ever eaten. It was an amazing experience... More

Good location, delicious food, good drinks, very good service. The mole and shrimp tacos were delicious.

I came to Oaxaca for the 2nd time to experience the amazing flavors of moles. The Catedral has a fabulous selection of mole dishes. My favorite was the Almendrado, a peanut based mole over chicken with sides of rice and black refried beans and those wonderful inhouse made tortillas, along with red wine of the house. The service is always... More

Oaxaca is a foodie paradise and the Catedral restaurant is clearly one of the places that gives Oaxaca its much deserved reputation. The menu offers many local specialities, including a variety of moles, tlayudas, chapulines, as well as other Mexican and Continental fare. We tried the fried grasshoppers (chapulines) and found them super crunchy. The soap de guias here was... More

Husband and I went to Catedral on a Sunday afternoon. They offer a buffet for 198 pesos, so we thought we would give it a try. The restaurant is beautiful, each room well appointed, linen table cloths and soft, live piano music playing in the background. The service is excellent, fine, attentive wait staff. The disappointment was the food. The... More

We had a lovely evening at the restaurant. We had the opportunity to sit in the courtyard which is definitely the best place to sit. The atmosphere is relaxed with lots of plants, a fountain and lots of "stars" in the form of LED string lights high above you. A guitar player/singer provided some pleasant background ambiance. The service was... More

We ate here twice, it was fabulous, everything just perfect from service to food to ambiance. Highly recommend. Not cheap but totally worth it.
