Favorite Restaurant in Oaxaca

We had dinner there twice last week. We loved the food and vibe of the restaurant. I realized that I had booked a reservation at Los Danzantes through Open Table only to find out that I mistakenly booked a reservation in the Mexico City. They let me in anyway.

We visited based upon the trip advisor reviews, but were disappointed. The service and the atmosphere were pleasant, but the food was not of the quality we expected given the reviews and the prices. The fish with mole amarillo with vegetables was completely flavorless. The fish and shrimp soup was palatable, but lacking flavors besides that of fish. The pulpo... More

When I travel I trust two things: Trip Advisor and my Lonely Planet travel guide. I travel with my wife and a couple of friends to Oaxaca, in late march. After the road trip we cooled down at the hotel and then headed to the pedestrian zone in the center of Oaxaca city. We easily founded Los Danzantes, just a... More

The place is amazing, it has it all, the setting is beautiful, the food is amazingly good, the service is also great. I see nothing wrong with it, well maybe that its hard to get a table there, you must make a reservation beforehand. 5 stars!

Tried to make a reservation for a Tuesday night in April 2015. With group of 12 friends and was told that they will require a $200 peso deposit per person and cannot attend to us at 6 PM but will be 7PM.. If we are ten minutes late we will loose our deposit. A little too "Snooty" for my taste.... More

Thank you for your comments, we are truly sorry you had such a bad experience at our restaurant. Seems there was a misunderstanding, on bookings for more than 6 people, yes we always ask for a payment in advance of 200 pesos per person only to guarantee your reservation, but at the moment you arrive at the restaurant we offer... Although the food was good enough, I wasn't as impressed with Los Danzantes as with some other Oaxacan restaurants. The room itself is like a big cavern and not all that romantic, in my opinion. I had pork with a dark mole sauce and the pork was a little dry. I guess if you mop it up with enough mole... More

We had to leave as we waited over 15 minutes without getting any service. The restaurant was full, but for the price and expectations it just was not worth it.

Very nice setting, tucked away a little off the main street. I had something of a dodgy stomach so wanted something fairly unadventurous and went with a simple pasta dish, even though the waiter tried to talk me out of ordering it! When it arrived I was dismayed to see that it featured ingredients I dislike heavily, namely onion and... More

How lucky that I happened upon this well reviewed place. Little did I know how lovely, soothing and relaxing it was inside along with great food. Thoroughly delicious meal that was enough for 2 the portions were so big. Great Oaxacan caprese sald with cheese, tomato and grilled watermelon. The ribs were super, again enough for 2 and the ambience... More
