Delicious, inexpensive gastrofonda

This attractive little (maybe 8 outside tables?) street cafe in La Condesa serves excellent food (the owner calls it a gastrofondo). We had delicious chile rellenos - a vegetarian version with mushrooms and cheese, and a meat version. Both come with rice (but we requested and received a side... read more

This attractive little (maybe 8 outside tables?) street cafe in La Condesa serves excellent food (the owner calls it a gastrofondo). We had delicious chile rellenos - a vegetarian version with mushrooms and cheese, and a meat version. Both come with rice (but we requested and received a side salad instead). The comida corrida is a bargain - about 100... More

This is a great option for a quick, home style food with a gourmet touch. Everything in the menu is well planned and executed with care. Friendly service. Pre fixed menu with little options for those who are picky.

I came to this neighborhood, on foot from the closest metro station, for lunch one day. It was worth every step. Met the utterly charming chef who walked me through what I would be having for lunch. Conversation was in Spanish, my choice, so don't know whether he speaks English. Food was eclectic, light, delicious, each course planned to complement... More

Actually a kitchen on the street, in a row of several small restaurants available for the lunch 12:00-18:00. The chef personally accomodates guests and overlook their choices offering explanations and advices. I discovered 5min after that who he really was. Surprised. Limited menù, one soup, one main. We choosed pescado al pastor (delicious, with a hynt of pineapple and very... More

Amazing hosts. Chef Jardi came to the table to explain it all to us (the flavors and the comida corrida/menu way of ordering) and hooked up a vegan with an awesome DF spicy treat. The moles are unique and spot on. Cafe de olla and cake are perfect. Light and slightly sweet. Unfortunately one time there was a table of... More

The place doesn't look like much, but La Rauxa del Quim Jardi proves one should not make assumptions based on physical appearance. I wandered by this place, nestled among several small restaurants and eateries in the area and decided to have lunch here on a whim. No regrets. It was one surprise after another, beginning with my salad and ending... More

Our experience here started by the owner/chef explaining the days' menu to us and answering all of our questions. Its rare to find that kind of service to begin with, anywhere! The set menu includes the water of the day, soup, an entre, and dessert! Plus there is always a vegetarian option, which can be difficult to find at other... More

If you'll come to Mexico City find a free time to go there...this beautiful place has special unique atmosphere. Even though the Parras street is very short it's a bit difficult to find it cause it's a really small place. The service is great, food absolutely delicious and I also cannot forget to mention that the kitchen is next to... More

What a deal! Discovered this little gem while staying at the charming, quaint and well-situated Stella B&B on Avenida Amsterdam. This adorable cozy restaurant is a 5 minute walk, and a reservation is recommended for lunch. The owner/chef took his time patiently explaining each menu item to us and its preparation...even though we understand enough spanish to read menus and... More

Quim is brilliant. It was hard to find this little spot, without any markings until the restaurant opens! We have eaten here a few times over a couple of years, and will continue to make it our "go to" spot for delicious food that combines local mexican ingredients with an international flare. The price can't be beat and the food... More
