Everything looks cool but the place is dark and the menu's colors are terrible so the first challenge is to chose what to eat. The dishes taste good but are overpriced. Service is OK but still the place is always crowded so make sure to call in advance to make reservations or arrive early.

I've been in this restaurant about four times, I like the food, I've never had any bad experience and the service is excelent and the decor also. I've been to many other more expensive japanese restaurants in Mexico City and for me El Japonez is the one that gives me the best value for the money I spend.

We dined on a sunday afternoon in a group of 8. Its was quite busy which is always worrying in any first-time restaurant as the standard can drop if the organization and eye for detail is not there. Well thats what practically happened to us. We tried a wide variety of dishes and starters. The simple stuff, like the noodle... More

My office is very near from there so I eat there a lot. If you are on a budget you can try the spicy salad either with salmon or tuna. Its really good and goes under 15 bucks. Or you can also have the sashimis. Fine or thick cut they are really fresh and amazing. The restaurant is a little... More

This is my third time in Mexico City, after a while you want something a little different. I was craving some Japanese food. One thing I have noticed at the three restaurants is that Japanese restaurants at least in the places I have been to use regular rice which in my opinion changes the texture and taste of sushi rolls... One of the best restaurants in Mexico City. Camaron Roca and Robalo Roca with the chipotle sauce, and the rib eye tacos are always a personal favorite. The great atmosphere in the terrace plus the vodka martinis makes El Japonez a must visit while being in the Polanco area.

This is a very trendy place. The green wall of plants is really nice. There are a lot of options in the menu. Lots of sushi, mango sushi, strawberry sushi, spicy sushi... There are some good starters. We could not make it for a dessert as we ate so much! Everything was delicious. Prices are fair. It is an upscale... More

Excellent service as in almost all places in Mexico City. I really enjoyed the environment. The menu is REALLY hugh, maybe too much, I was confused on what to order, but I came straight and ordered shrimp Tacos. This is DELICIOUS, and for me is a must. It's a nice place to eat and talk.

El Japonez in Santa Fe district (Mexico City) is a place to have a delicious japanese/sushi meal. The kitchen is very creative, they care of having good and fresh ingredients, and so far, the quality has not changed a lot in the last 3 years. For lunch and late dinner is highly recommeded. The atmosphere is upscale (for Mexican standards)... More
