Very good food

Lunch was great! we had to wait around 30 min on a Saturday. The mole oaxaqueño and the poblano were delicious. Fresh fruit water is a most; I had zapote and guanabana water, these are hard to find fruits other than Central America and Mexico. We had no room for desert but the nieves looked great... read more

I got the spinach and cheese omelette and my boyfriend got arrachera(he asked for a recommendation because we didn't really know what anything on the menu said...and he speaks Spanish). But the food was delicious. We went around 11am on Saturday and had a 40 minute wait before we were seated. They were very prompt at serving us. The hot... More

I have been to a different El Cardenal location (in the Hilton) and decided to stop by this location for lunch while I was in town this time. It was great as expected!! This location has a really nice atmosphere as well as great service! From the basket of bread to the cocktails (margarita and pina colada), the meal got... More

Being with family, couple, or just casual, this place offers simply one of the best flavors and authenticity of the Mexican food. If you want to taste Mexico, go to El Cardenal, a very nice place, go early cause it's quite crowded.

We ate here after some site-seeing in centro historico. The food is traditional Mexican but we found the taste to be fairly average. We enjoy traditional Mexican food but found the food here to not be as authentic. The location is very close to el Zocalo and the service was very nice. It's a place I would return to for... More

A very good restaurant, friendly ambiance, and full of tradition. There are four of them right now, two are in Downtown, one in Palma#23 and the Other one in Avenida Juarez #70. You can check its web page: http://restauranteelcardenal.com Remember that Mexico City's downtown has a lot of traffic, and there are almost daily demonstrations, so plan ahead and get... More

El Cardenal is an icon of the Historic Downtown in Mexico City. One of the best places to eat some of the most unique recipes of the traditional Mexican Cuisine. The grasshoppers, the maguey worms and escamoles are a must. Not to miss the oven cheese. These along with a friendly service make it a must return.
