I've tried to go this restaurant twice before, it wasn't open! The hours don't seem to be on the website, either. Finally on my third attempt, I managed to get in for a late lunch with a friend. It was totally worth the wait - the food, service, and atmosphere was lovely. There are a few vegetarian options, although the... More

Went with friends for brunch on a Monday morning/afternoon. Very centrally located. We parked here and walked 2 blocks to the big city center by the parliament and the huge cathedral. (Valet parking available) One friend lives in Mexico City and said this is her favorite restaurant in Mexico. Options of fresh squeezed juices, fresh baked breads with fresh milk... More

My husband and I had this place high on our must visit places to eat but it turned out to be a disappointment. Servers ignored me completely and only addressed my husband. When I asked for hot chocolate they ignored the request and gave me coffee, then when I needed a refill my husband had to chase down the server,... More

It is not the most sophisticated restaurant but still one of the best simple, traditional Mexican restaurants I've ever been to.myou will find there everything you would expect: delicious tacos, tasty quesadillas, amazing guacamole, plenty of meat and fish option. Do not expect anything fancy nor trendy nor modern but just a very good, mythical, local fare.

A really great place where you can eat real and high quality food. Ingredients like cheese and meat are really fresh and of high quality. Services are very carefull and professional. This is a very good place where eat in DF!

We visited El Cardenal at Palma 23 because other reviews were so positive. The Palma 23 branch (one of several in the city) frankly looks like a department store canteen. It's clearly popular with locals taking Granny to lunch. I can't comment on the food because we left our table before ordering, as we were so surprised/disappointed at the total... More

On our first day in Ciudade de Mexico we went to El Cardenal for a late lunch (by US standards). We began with cervezas and appetizers which were outstanding. We all had different entrees and no one complained. The mole was really good and I was tempted to lick the plate but didn't. We sat upstairs and had live piano... More

It is most popular for breakfast and lunch. Maybe it is very famous for Mexico City becasue you don't have many alternatives or famous for people who love mexican style breakfast. I learned it the hard way =) I cannot say anything bad about this restaurant because of my inexperience of Mexican breakfast. I ordered a scrambled egg with jalapeno,... More

This 3 floor restaurant is huge and full with locals. Our service and food was excellent. Very central location close to Zocalo.

I dine at El Cardenal often when I am in Mexico City. It is an excellent conservative restaurant. The dining rooms are very attractive, including white linen tablecloths and napkins. The service is attentive and responsive. The menu is extensive and varied, covering a wide range of traditional Mexican dishes, carefully prepared. The prices are moderate. I count on El... More
