The gourmet place for the tipical Mexican "quesadillas"

Grown from a single room kitchen for "quesadillas" to go, it has grown to a 25 table restaurant that keeps its place Polanco, two blocks from the Mexico City equivalent to Rodeo Drive, Fifth Avenue or Las Ramblas. More than 15 varieties of "quesadillas", with heavy cream and superb "salsa verde... read more

Absolutely disgusting. The place is old, bad maintained, dirty, the service IS TERRIBLE, now even the food is garbage, quesadillas (their sign dish) are now over cooked with a ridiculous amount of oil. They have three parking spots that were empty when I went there and they make you pay for valet service, absurd. Will never be back and I... More

I heard it used to be a nice mexican place but now it's really out-of-maintenace, the service was really bad, we ate gorditas and quesadillas they were tasteless and even the bill was greasy.

It is true, it is really not easy to find this kind of place in Polanco, and you sort of want to like it, with the flourescent lights and order form you fill out yourself with the pencil they provide. With nothing else besides very low prices, it is all up to the food, and I just can't recommend it.... More

It was a bit of challenge to find a good, inexpensive, authentic Mexican restaurant in the Polanco neighborhood. I'm glad that Tripadvisor led us to this place. The quesadillas were good, but as other reviewers have mentioned, they are not what would be call quesadillas in the U.S.: they are shaped like empanadas, deep fried, and some don't have cheese.... Many of us in the US have a particular idea of a quesadilla. Well, prepare yourself for a reality check at Maria Isabel. I tried three different ones and had no regrets: pumpkin flower with cheese, huitlacoche with cheese, and rajas with cheese. They were all delicious, particularly the huitlacoche, a mushroom that grows on corn. I never heard of... More

A gem within walking distance of the major business hotel. I asked the concierge at the Hyatt for a great local place and this is where he sent me, wonderful! The simple and economical fare is not only popular with visitors but with innumerable locals who frequent this place for lunch.

This place has been in Polanco for many years!!! Cant miss the traditional cheese quesadila or the flautas are amazing, the salsas and the sour cream are a great complement to the dishes, the flavored water is always made from fresh fruit. The service is good and the price is amazing!

A great traditional restaurant that is always busy, located just off Arquimedes Avenue a couple of blocks from the elegant five-star hotel zone, Quesadillas Maria Isabel offers delicious and inexpensive Mexican treats. There is no ambience: the walls are white tile, the waitresses wear hairnets, there's a soda machine in the back to keep the pop cold, and the customers... More
