La Bodeguita del Medio was founded in Cuba in the 1940s as a corner store owned by Angel Martinez. The store became a meeting place for local artists who enjoyed getting together for an afternoon 'Mojito'. The place has preserved the ambiance of the romantic Carribean lifestyle that flourished with Havana. Today the Bodeguita del Medio is famous world wide for Salsa music, fine cigars, its original Mojitos and having guests write their thoughts and comments on the walls of the restaurant.

We spent a good 4 hours here on our last visit to Mexico City, the waiting staff were friendly and prompt with their service. The food was delicious and cheaply priced. I highly recommend checking it out!

I just about never slam restaurants, but I'll make an exception. On Sunday night in the Condesa, few restaurants are open, so we ended up here. The chicken (jerk?) was bony, tough and scanty. The plaintains were greasy. There was no water brought, even when requested repeatedly. Well, the two times the waiter showed up. The food was mediocre, the... More

Good crowd and awesome Mojitos in a great location: Once you entered the place, you're overwhelmed by the (live) music, the people and all the tags on the walls. Obviously the Mojito-variations are very recommended... Better go early, as the crowd leaves by 11/12pm.

I was recommended this location by the concierge at the Four Seasons. I was told it was a short walk but I would recommend a taxi. I was a little surprise at all the writings on the wall. Food was excellent.. I had the skirt steak and shrimp. It was excellent!! I had the caramel flan.. It was the best... More

If youve been to the real bodeguita del medio in Cuba this one leaves a lot to desire. Its in a very trendy neighborhood and the service isnt quite great but the live music and a coupple drinks make you forget that your not in cuba.

I was on a friend trip to Mexico City last month and we went to try out an authentic Cuban restaurant famous for their excellent food and mojitos. We were not disappointed in the least! The best mojitos I've ever had and the Jack Daniels version wasn't so bad either, more like a mint julep. I had the special that... More

Came here with friends. What a mistake. A disclaimer. I am Cuban, so I know my mojitos and tostones. I also happen to know the original in Habana after so many visits. This should not even use their name. If this is a franchise from the original, whoever the owner of such things is Cuba is, should review their quality.... More

We went for dinner and drinks on two separate occasions after being disappointed by recommended places in Roma and Condessa. The ceviche Verde was a huge hit for us along withe the fried pork. I'd skip the plantains, they were a bit dry and tasteless and the mojitos were a bit mixed. I liked that they use real fruit for... More

My favorite place ever. If you like spicy and fish cevice try the "ceviche verde que te quiero verde" (very hot & spicy). Also try the "café cubano" and if you eat on the terrace you can smoke a cuban cigar.
