La Bodeguita del Medio was founded in Cuba in the 1940s as a corner store owned by Angel Martinez. The store became a meeting place for local artists who enjoyed getting together for an afternoon 'Mojito'. The place has preserved the ambiance of the romantic Carribean lifestyle that flourished with Havana. Today the Bodeguita del Medio is famous world wide for Salsa music, fine cigars, its original Mojitos and having guests write their thoughts and comments on the walls of the restaurant.

Great food, amazing atmosphere!

I was on a friend trip to Mexico City last month and we went to try out an authentic Cuban restaurant famous for their excellent food and mojitos. We were not disappointed in the least! The best mojitos I've ever had and the Jack Daniels version wasn't so bad either, more like a mint julep. I had... read more

Came here with friends. What a mistake. A disclaimer. I am Cuban, so I know my mojitos and tostones. I also happen to know the original in Habana after so many visits. This should not even use their name. If this is a franchise from the original, whoever the owner of such things is Cuba is, should review their quality.... More

We went for dinner and drinks on two separate occasions after being disappointed by recommended places in Roma and Condessa. The ceviche Verde was a huge hit for us along withe the fried pork. I'd skip the plantains, they were a bit dry and tasteless and the mojitos were a bit mixed. I liked that they use real fruit for... More

My favorite place ever. If you like spicy and fish cevice try the "ceviche verde que te quiero verde" (very hot & spicy). Also try the "café cubano" and if you eat on the terrace you can smoke a cuban cigar.

The Mother Ship is in Old Havana but has authentically translated itself to the far corners of the world including Berlin, London, Budapest, Mar de Plata, Skokje and a half dozen locations in Mexico. Walking into the Mexico City location on Cozumel Street is like time-warping back to Old Havana in the 60's. The ambiance is coffee house Havana --... More

This restaurant is an example of what happens when you create fame and go to sleep. It was a very disappointing and disillusioning experience. Coming from the Caribbean myself, I was expecting something authentic according to some of the reviews I read, that where obviously written by innocent travelers who havent really been to an aurhentic Cuban restaurant. The building... More

The Mojito makes the place, you can easily have a couple of them (with a taxi drive afterwards).... Very good Cuban kitchen, but the drinks make the place. And the walls decorated by the clients of the place ....

We found the place by accident. One of our best surprises ever! Awesome food. Never had better beans, rice, or platanos, and the main dishes we had were off the charts. To top it off, the Cuban trio that came by filled the place with seriously first-rate tunes. Can't wait to come back!
