DF has no shortage of fantastic restaurants but sometimes lacks really authentic ethnic places. So my expectations for Kolobok weren't super high. But I was so pleasantly surprised! The food is legit, homemade style Russian and Ukrainian cuisine - salads with mayonnaise and pickled herring, pickles, varenyky, pelmeni, holubsti, kotlety, todo! Check it out for a nice change of pace.

This is a great restaurant. It is quite tiny but the food is just great. Try the meatball soup and the Russian Raviolli, both are exellent.

I´m ukrainian so I can judge Kolobok, basing on my the own experience with a russian food. First I wouldn´t call it a restaraunt, the place is small and the food doesn´t reach a restaraunt level, it´s tasty though. As someone said is a homemade russian food. It´s just like to visit your aunt or her friend being invited for... More

"Kolobok" - on first sight - kind of bistro and even my first thought was what I am doing here :). Well, once you tasted any of dishes... That is really tasty and delicious ! We were there with family of my husband, and all of us liked ALL what we ate :) Thanks a lot to owner !

For a change from Mexican cuisine. A non-pretentious, neighborhood eatery. The soups (solyanka, borscht, etc) can't be beat: delicious, filling, nutritious. Tasty complementary rye bread. Inexpensive fried meat or dessert turnovers ("empanadas"). The hand-made pelmeni dumplings are excellent in broth or alone. Drinks: order the "kompot"...a cold, sweet, fruit-filled version of Mexican Christmas "ponche"...or try the Russian fermented rye bread... More
