Superb food in Centro Historico at reasonable prices

This is Mexican nouvelle cuisine. Superb dishes ( I loved my shrimp in orange sauce and my husband enjoyed stuffed pepper) . Very upscale in feeling with white tablecloths and nice china but not as expensive as I had expected. Great quality. We're going back.

Great entryway, nice ambiance, but terribly slow service! The couple next to us told the waiter, we ordered our food in the spring, see if you can bring it to us by autumn. Ordered Pechuga and Filet Mercaderes and would not order either one again, as neither was impressive at all. It completely baffles me that a restaurant with this... More

A guide recommended this restaurant to us. We spent a month in Mexico and this was one of our best meals. The food and service were excellent. We had planned to eat our last dinner in Mexico there but a delay returning from an out of town excursion made that impossible. We were disappointed not to have the chance to... More

After a nice stroll through the city, on our way to the Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico we just had a look at the entrance, the menu. As it looked pretty nice we decided to give it a shot - to make the story short, we came again the day after. The setting is a very nice one and made... More

Los Mercaderes is located right in the heart of Mexico City's Centro Historico, near the Templo Mayor, the Cathedral and the Zocalo (the city's main plaza.) The noise and bustle of the city are left behind upon entering this lovely restaurant, where the service is good and the food delicious. I am in Mexico City quite often, and have returned... More

The service was almost exaggeratedly polite and the food very good, but when the waiter complained that the tip was not enough everything turned sour. Compulsory tipping in London is bad enough, we don't expect it in Ciudad de México.

In amongst a bustling part of down town Mexico we came across a small but fantastic restaurant. The service was excellent, the food really tasty and for the adventurous there were some local delicacies to choose from.

Good idea to make a reservation, Great & clean flavors, nice environment. I would give 5 stars except for the coffee. There were a trick offering me a coffee from a regular machine or "fresh?" Little more expensive. Should be always a great coffee?

This restaurant had been recommended by a guide we used in Mexico City. I have to say that it gave me the impression that it is not the sort of restaurant I would normally choose to eat in, especially wearing shorts and a casual shirt. However, in we ventured. It looks like a fine-dining establishment. Starched table-cloths, immaculately dressed serving... More

... In fact I was planning to give 5 stars. And why not? The ambience is great, the service is impeccable, and the food is delicious and pretty reasonably priced for a fancy restaurant... But then they had to go and charge us an absolutely stupid amount ($20 USD / 240 pesos) for 2 little (500ml) bottles of San Pellegrino.... More
