Excellent food

Excellent, correct preparation of traditional Mexican specialties in a lovely, gracious setting. Excellent, correct preparation of traditional Mexican specialties in a lovely, gracious setting. There is an embarrassingly effusive review pasted to the front door from the NY Times calling it "the greatest Mexican food in the world". No. Not as long as El Cardenal-Reforma (and probably others) exist, but it IS good. Expensive, but for Polanco, reasonably-priced. Watch out for the... More

We had a group dinner here, with tasting most of the dishes and drinking a lot of taquila and beers. The service was super fast and friendly. The food was good, quite adjusted to the western taste, but coming from all parts of Mexico. The atmosphere was great with mariachi band walking around the tables. I would have gone there... More

I absolutely loved my time touring Mexico and had some fabulous food during the 3 weeks there and delicious margaritas. But neither were good in Villa Maria. The margaritas were more about size/quantity rather than quality. I love margaritas and had some fabulous ones in Mexico - these were just OK. We were with a tour group so had no... More

I've gone to Villa Maria for the past 6 years. The setting is very traditional. From the server uniforms to the mariachis playing. This and the large dining area and tables make it a nice place for large groups of tourists. The food however is average and not unique. If you require a taxi when leaving have the restaurant call... The service was amazing! They brought me the menu in English. The staff was very attentive as well. The presentation and taste of the dishes was very satisfying. I was able to sample a margarita before I ordered el grande!! Muy delicioso ! The salsa and chips.... Fresh!!

Located in one of the best neighborhoods near DF, this restaurant stands over the average. We asked for typical Mexican food, mole, tacos, enchiladas, Mexican caviar, cheese with red chorizo, etc. Very tasty, well served and abundant. The personnel is very professional, gentle and helpful. The place itself is amazing, every detail is carefully prepared and maintained. If you want... More

We had our worst and most expensive meal in this Polanco restaurant during what was otherwise a week long trip filled with culinary delights. Japalenos and mushrooms clearly out of a can. Our seafood dish was terrible. Cheesy, overpriced margaritas in giant glasses. I have had better Mexican in strip malls in Virginia.

The place is unique! the decoration is one of a kind, the mariachis playing, the food, the drinks... it is an experience to enjoy and take your friends for the next times. Noisy, but you will have so much fun, that it is just a detail...

The food is delicious, it's a great spot to share with friends... you have to order the huge margarita, one's enough but it's up to you...

Everytime I have foreigners in Mexico take them to this place. Never missed good comments afterwards. Food is excellent Mexican and the place is nice.
