Description: Founded in March 1995, Restaurant Los Danzantes is a study in contrasts: a warm colonial building constructed with volcanic stones and natural nopales surrounding it; a delightful bar carved by Joel Rendon and traditional tones of Mexican music set to a modern rhythm; and, of course, a menu that features regional ingredients shining out in fresh, innovative combinations and fusion cooking.

We ate a long Sunday lunch at this restaurant after visiting the Frida Kahlo Museum and having spent some time wandering around the markets in the immediate area. The best way of describing the food is Mexican food with a twist and the result was very tasty indeed. Portion size is just right, the dishes unusual – e.g. a fondue... More

A good choice for Oaxaca style dishes, nice flavors and menu, but service was terrible. Prices are a little bit high. Location is excellent and facilities are good.

I had visited the Los Danzantes in Oaxaca a few weeks ago and have since been eager to try the Mexico City location. (I'll compare the two in a moment.) This location is on the plaza in the very popular Coyoacan neighborhood. the seats on the patio are coveted for their great people watching vantage point. We arrived at 2pm... More

This has been one of our favorite restaurants since we strted dating 11 years ago. Its specialty is on contemporanean oaxacan food. Tehy always have the best ingredents, and the tasteis amazing. I´m in love with their apple salad with mustard dressing. My huby is a fan of their tuna with habanero hot peppers, and then we bring soups, or... More

Went there with friends and we had a good experience. I wasn't too angry but the soup I chose was great. The mezcal of the house was good so were the artisanal beers.

I had the jack fish which was dry and presented on a plate with rice splashed around it. Not what you would expect in this price range. We had to tell the waiters that the table was missing napkins. The waiters refused to turn on the outside heating although everybody sitting outside had their jackets on.

The menus was diffult for us to select from although the restaurant had been recommended. Our waiter brought us a wide selection of mole sauces and flat bread to try before we made our order, plus we managed to circumvent the cooked crickets - I am adventurous but not as far as eating insects - yet. Our table was just... More

We were strolling around the plaza looking for an option to have lunch. This place was it. Nice decoration, good service, excellent meals and a decent atmosphere overall. I do recomend arriving early, have a mezcal caipirinha and enjoy. The huitlacoche ravioli are superb.
