Superb Mexican food in an informal ambience

An amazingly good restaurant in the Cultural Center of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Open mostly for lunch (although breakfast is available, call ahead), the depth of selection, execution, and presentation of traditional and regional Mexican food is outstanding. I don't know where to start sincerely. This place once was a good restaurant (20 years ago). I don't know what happened. Apparently it became a Mexican gastronomic specialty restaurant, however, the tidiness of the place literally "sucks". Napkins where the bread comes are tide, the bread isn't hot. The all ceiling and in general the tidiness is really bad.... More

An amazingly good restaurant in the Cultural Center of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Open mostly for lunch (although breakfast is available, call ahead), the depth of selection, execution, and presentation of traditional and regional Mexican food is outstanding. If there is a shortcoming, it is that they have (as of December 2014) no beer, and only a limited... More

Excellent Mexican Restaurant ... maybe the best campus restaurant I have ever been to at a University ever. The Mexican food is traditional with a flair! The quality and service are top notch and you cannot beat the scenery at CU!!!

This is a perfect place for enjoying the taste of part of the emblematic campus of National University (UNAM), not only with meals but the terrace with the wonderful view of the "Tang", an sculpture of Rufino Tamayo besides, music hall and theaters are few steps away, and the MUAC Universitary Museum of contemporary art which usually shows very good... Boy does this restaurant have a high opinion of itself. The menu reads like the egotitistical ramblings of a self-appointed Messiah of Mexican Cuisine. We were assaulted by waiters as soon as we entered with entreaties to order the Chiles en Nogada. All these different fillings, sweet or salted nogada sauce, fruit grown in their underground thermonuclear-powered orchards, pecans peeled... More

This restaurant will give you a very decent experience of Mexican food and it is the best option if you are in the University's Cultural Center area (Concerts, theatre or MUAC). Early days of this restaurants were better lately there have been ocassions when the dish arrives cold or the wine is not that great. Mole is average, salads are... More

This is a very good restaurant and highly appreciated if you´re going to a concert, or the MUAC museum. The food is great, has mexican flavors, with wonderful presentation of dishes. The service is good, but try not to get there right after any concert, since it gets really full. Decent prices.

Azul y Oro is a small chain of restaurants specializing in regional and seasonal cuisine. Their specialty includes Chiles Rellenos one of the zeniths of Mexican Cuisine. I went with some very knowledgable (and trendy) Mexican friends and was charmed. The outdoor patio overlooking a large fountain, with the new UNAM Contemporary Art Museum in the background and groups of... More

My husband and had 2 meals at Azul y Oro last week; the first time for lunch and then 2 days later for dinner. The night we dined there was the night after we dined at Pujol, so we were not prepared to be dazzled, but we were. We both ordered fish, my husband the house specialty Tikin . .... More

I had delicious tamales de chaya, although they came cold at first, I sent them back and waited just a couple of minutes for them to bring them hot. Capuccino was very nice in comparison to most restaurants, and couldn't resist the chocolate tamal for dessert...totally worth it. Very nice location in the heart of the University's cultural centre.
