The cafe has been around since 1912 and the decor, the ambience, the mariachi, the food, the local patrons- it was all perfect ! We are vegetarians and had no problem finding menu items to choose from.Cafe con leche and the Mexican hot chocolate were my favorites :)

We visited Cafe de Tacuba on our first day in Mexico City. I have to say that the Ambience was sooo beautiful Lots of cultural history in the building. The food however, was not as great. First of all, our waiter was completely lost when we asked for our food to be Lactose Free. Took three tries for our quesadillas... More

Café Tacuba is located in the Centro Historico on Calle Tacuba, an extension from Avenida Hidalgo. During one warm afternoon we took a taxi ride from our hotel on the Reforma and arrived at Tacuba 28, fifteen minutes later. It was 2:30pm in the afternoon and the stage was set for the main meal of the day, Comida, in one... More

If you want to see a restaurant with some colonial tradition while you are in down town Mexico City you need to visit this cite have a beer and leave. The food is very expensive for the quality. I order tortilla soup hopping that it would had been a nice traditional dish, It was water down with no flavor at... More

This restaurant was recommended not only by our hotel but by LP, as being in the area that we were staying. We enjoyed our evening meal & so returned for our final lunch before our departure t. I don't profess to be an expert on Mexican food, but having just spent a second month in Mexico - i know what... More

This restaurant has beeb there forever but that does not justify the prices! The. Place looks dated , the staff is not friendly and even if the food is ok the prices are way too high, they charge for the location ( tourist area, downtown) and the name!there are other mexican restaurants that look nicer and have better service ,... It is a traditional restaurant in Mexico that is worth it for the place and history. Food is not the best and prices are expensive for the type of food. There are plenty of good restaurants around the downtown area with better food.

Cafe Tacuba, located in downtown Mexico city "el centro" in an old house, open its door many many decades ago, the decoration is wonderful, the waitresses still dress in their traditional dress of the 1930s. The food is authentic Mexican food, and is wonderful place for a Merienda or Mexican Dinner. Do not miss the sweet bread or "pan dulce"... More

Café Tacuba is just average and probably not the best place for foreigners to taste the best Mexican foods. The area area the café is a little unsavory late in the day and evening. Once one has been there I doubt a return visit would be made. It is a safe place to eat and the atmosphere is different.
