This place is a place you have to visit at least once just to step back in time. It is touristy but when u had some clients from Japan who wanted to experience something Mexican this place did not disappoint them. The food is marginal and I certainly would not go there for food.

Cafe Tacuba was one of the culinary highlights of my recent visit to Mexico City and one stop everyone should make whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The restaurant is in a spanish colonial building that is just darling from the bright colors to the stain glass and terra-cotta floors. The food is authentic, fresh and very delicious. The service... As a non-Mexican, I thought Cafe Tacuba was a good place to visit for my imagining of classic Mexican food in a classic setting. It did feel like a bit of a tourist trap compared to some other places we visited - for example, it had a live mariachi band - but sometimes when you are halfway round the world... More

Very traditional place, over a 100 years now. Traditonal mexican food, served in what seems another world. Absolutely worth a visit! Also opened for diner, which is a bit hard to find around the Zocalo.

I tried the molletes and they were really good, the hot chocolate they make (I believe it is called Tacuba chocolate) is the higlight of the meal, totally recommended. The location is so beautiful. We made it our plan to have our last brunch there and it was a good decision. The location is unbeatable. Do your research and you... More

Cafe Tacuba was one of the first places I ate at in Mexico City, way back in 1980. I finally returned this year and it is just as I remembered. What a gorgeous place! I wasn't that crazy about what I ordered, but the entire experience with the musicians and decor made our dinner really nice. Prices were higher than... More

Is well located, specially if you are sightseeing in the historic center. The place is beautiful and very authentic. Food was good, not great, the first floor is awesome is you want to feel in a busy dinner, the second floor is perfect if you want to be in more chilled atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and prices were ok... More

Excellent food. Genuine, old style. In one week we were in café Tacuba twice. You will not be dissapointed. Additional to that, it is located downtown near el "Zocalo" where it is harder to get good local food! Next time i'll travel in Mexico, I am gonna repeat for sure!

The whole place is beautiful, the spinach enchiladas were delish, and the coffee is STRONG! Great atmosphere, especially during Christmas time. I visited in January 2012, not in December 2013, but Tripadvisor doesn't go farther back in time.
