This was one of my favourite places during previous visits to Guanajuato in 2001 and 2005. I was craving pasta one day but thought I was going to yoga so I stopped by to order take out. Probably a mistake as they put liquid dishes in flimsy styrofoam containers in a large garbage bag. By Guanajuato standards, not cheap. But... More

Guanajuato's 'Chao Bella' is owned by a friendly and devoted chef who prides in serving true homemade italian food. Our experience was very pleasant. I must mention, it is not a restaurant I would recommend for someone comming back from a daylong hike, for the portions are reasonnable, not "super-sized". Service is calm, respectful and occasionnally by the owner himself!... More

We found the location in the afternoon and we were greeted by the owner/chef at the door. We were happy to know that on Tuesdays there are no corking fees if you bring your own wine. We returned that evening to a great appetizer provided by the owner (crepes stuffed with shrimp and spinach with a rose cheese sauce). Our... More

None of us raved about the food, it was mediocre. We had lasagne, salad and pizza. The salad was very wilted, the pizza lacked flavor and my husband who loves lasagne didn't even finish his dish. The staff were attentive and friendly and the setting was really nice. The beers were ice cold. Overpriced for the quality. Would not go... More

The table for two on a balcony overlooking a festive Guanajuato street was a highlight. The food was delicious and the portions generous.

Lovely service and great food - Arturo the chef-patron is a great host who cooks wonderful food. We had an amazing salmon tartare and crepes with one of the best bisque sauces we've ever tasted -all of which compared well with anything we've ever had in Michelin rated restaurants in Europe and elsewhere. If you want to spend less the... More

After checking the reviews we went looking for Chao Bella. Turns out we had not previously noticed it because it's upstairs on the 2nd floor. We found the ambience a pleasant mix - being a lovely rustic historic building with some contemporary features to complement. There is a wine list - not extensive but certainly enough to provide a good... More

After spending 3 weeks in Mexico my husband and I were looking to add some variety to our meals. We were so pleased with the pasta on "2 for one Wednesday nights" that we decided to return for a pizza and salad a few nights later. The food seemed individually prepared with skill of blending flavours. Our waiter was able... More

I have eaten at Ciao Bella maybe 20 times including when it was located in Positos, one of Guanajuato oldest streets known for its museum and art galleries. In fact Ciao Bella was located some years ago at what is now Guanajuato's Museum of Contemporary art, and please go there as they house a very amazing collection that sports some... More

We enjoyed having a pizza at Chao Bella on a night we were tired and not very hungry. It's a good choice for an easy meal -- the pizza, which comes in one size, was relatively small, but exactly what we needed. The beer was cold. The atmosphere was OK, a nice room with televisions going everywhere and very bright... More
