I decided to return to this charming restaurant on our recent trip to Guanajuato because I wanted to see what other delicacies Chef Alberto had to offer. I tried the Pescado (fish) and my friend had a fillet of beef. I enjoyed my entree and my friend said that her fillet was tender and flavorful. We each had a couple... More

Unique restaurant in Guanajuato. La Taberna de Diego y Frida serves a unique Mexican and Mediterranean food. I have the Paella with a group of friends. The owner suggested a bottle of wine. to my surprise was from a winery in Mexico. It was perfect combination with the delicious paella. The food and excellent service made such a great night.... We recently returned from a short visit to Guanajuanto. We've lived in Mexico near Guadalajara for three years but our first trip to Guanajuanto. Found Taberna on TripAdvisor. Small, quaint atmosphere with a much more Mediterranean feel than Mexican. Food was delicious, service impeccable. I thought the owner had to be Italian but was Mexican who definitely trained in Italian... More

It took a concerted effort to find food we liked in Guanajuato- La Taberna de Diego y Frida was worth the trouble it took to find it.

The charming atmosphere and great service made La Taberna de Diego y Frida an amazing meal. The food was superb, especially the paela. The meal and feel of the place was very classy and well put together. I plan on returning without a doubt.

We stopped in this lovely restaurant for a beer and had a wonderful surprise! They serve a craft beer made in GTO, who knew? Artisan beer is on the way in Mexico. The brewery is called Gambusino and the beer was very good. Maybe not a great as you would find in Canada or the US but such a nice... More

After a long day of sight-seeing nearby, I came to Diego y Frida to relax ~ had the filet topped with with a most amazing tequila and cuitlachoce sauce. Oh, my! And - as an added bonus, the very reasonable house wine is delightful. Although the atmosphere is intimate, cozy, and romantic - this is a very comfortable place to... More

My wife and I came because we'd heard that the chef's Paella was award winning. We were not disappointed. We loved it. Our friend, who had invited us, had the very nice filet of beef and some really good spicy potatoes. "A la Diabla" the chef had said. The owner/chef - Alberto- came to our table and warmly greeted us and... More

Dinner was disappointing. We ordered the NY steak which arrived in edible. The manager recommended a filet instead, which was no better. Our appetizer and drinks were good, and we received 2 free margaritas to make up for the poor main dish. All in all, not a great experience. Don't plan to return

Had a great experience dining here. The service was beyond excellent, the setting was romantic and comfortable, and the food was AMAZING! I always considered my Mom's lasagna to be the best I have ever had, but the lasagna here was right up there, along with the dish presentation. What I liked most about this restaurant was the location. It... More
