I'd try the choco-cortado coffee (I'm not quite sure about the name of the beverage but was something like that) it was a perfect combination between a good dark Mexican chocolate and a good espresso. I really enjoy it if you like the real coffee you should try the Cafe Tal.

Here in Guanajuato studying Spanish. Coming from the SF Bay Area my expectations for coffee flavor are high but rarely met elsewhere. Café Tal roasts their own beans and the result is a rich, full flavor, non-bitter brew. Nice pastries--very chocolatey muffin, croissant, other pastries. True, there is limited seating area where you buy your coffee, but right across the... More

Paid Cafe Tal a visit after several Mexican friends recommended the place. I had the best hot chocolate drink ever. I will definitively be back!

I discovered this gem on my last visit as it is one of the few places in the historic centre to open for coffee/breakfast before 9 am. Excellent coffee. I had fruit salad with yogurt and a croissant both days and both were of the quality of a much more expensive place. The atmosphere in the original building is a... More

It was an okay place. Had a green mango tea and fruit plate both which were excellent. But the location was far from the center and not really comfortable. Very small sitting area. Tal the cat did make an appearance however. Was looking for baked goods, none to be had.

Café Tal was one of those pleasant surprises for me when I was in search of a place to unwind with cup of coffee. My daughter, who isn't a coffee drinker, would order their warm chocolate drink. We'd stop by every morning for coffee and chocolate and, soon I was ordering a chocolate along with my coffee. What a beautiful... More

We looked forward to stopping in for a café con leche the morning before school at Escuela Mexicana. The best!

When I crave a real escape from the fast pace of life and work, I want to go to GTO. Specifically, I want a cup of coffee or a besos negro in the window of Cafe Tal. This is one of my ideal places to really unwind and enjoy great drink in a perfect environment.

Amazing little café with a few tables with internet access very quant and charming. We met the owner of the café a young man who was very knowledgeable about coffee. What a relief to have a good coffee after weeks of bad coffee in America. Highly recommended from a coffee snob.
