Food for the Aztec Gods and Goddesses.

An out of the way gastronomic experience well worth the $2 taxi cab ride. Our server, Christian was as welcoming and charming as ever--his love and passion for the rich traditions and flavors of Mexican cuisine was contagious. On a hillside in a residential district lies Las Mercedes. It's situated in house overlooking the town below surrounded by mountain vistas. The menu is all in Spanish, but the staff is mostly bilingual. The food is amazing and flavorful utilizing the freshest Mexican ingredients and includes specialities including a few I'll leave as a surprise. Also the tequilla, mescal... More

A little bit out of Centro and difficult to find, but make it out if you can go/afford it. (And make reservations in advance!) We had thebesttable, by the window but view is obstructed, views really not that good. Menu is quite unique, very sophiscated Mexican style. Very interesting and delicious menu. Service was good, waiter tried to be as... More

Las Mercedes is a small off the main track gourmet restaurant in Guanajuato. Every dish is unique and Guanajuato wine is availiable. Try "Cuna de Tierra," a world class red wine. All dished use Mexican ingredients prepared for the most demanding palates. Escamoles, xoconostle, mezcal and blue fin tuna are highly recommended .

Las Mercedes restaurant in Guanajuato is situated in a very unique location overlooking the City of Guanajuato..It is a small and quaint house converted very well with exquisite décor . The service was phenomenal and the exotic dishes like Mexican caviar(escamoles) and the Chile Ancho relleno and the braised chicken in green mole with pistachio oil were an explosion of... More

This is a small restaurant, with no big signs outside, in a small non-crowded street. Once you climb the entrance stairs you find yourself in a small lobby from where you can see some of the tables. The tables total maybe 8-9 tables. The waiters are extra-attentive, and explain carefully each of the menu options. The food is Mexican cuisine,... More

Gracious host. Impeccable, attentive service. Impressive interpretations of true authentic Mexican Cuisine. And they know and are so proud of their mezcal. Such a treat!

We took a friend there as a thank you. Made most welcome and service excellent. Food tasted very good but some of the textures were not to my taste.

This has to be the most elegant restaurant in Guanajuato with an outstanding view of the city below. Essentially a dinning room in a private house with highly personal and attentive service. The food is interesting and beautifully presented and reasonably priced for a restaurant of this quality. The wine however is very poor value starting at 120 peso per... More
