We had a fabulous meal at Las Mercedes tonight. We enjoyed the sopa negro and pork shanks while looking out over this wonderful city. Both recipes were passed down in the family and the flavours were exquisite. The service and ambiance were also remarkable and we'll be back for sure.

Great location on the hill, beautifully decorated inside; small and intimate, with fantastic service and even better food. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Make a reservation well in advance, as there are only a handful of tables.

A small place, Only 7 tables. It is high in the hills overlooking centro historico. All three who were with us loved their meals. Two had the seared tuna and the other Chamorro. Reservations definitely a good idea. One caveat, although the wine list is good, the prices are very high for Mexico. the food was also expensive by Mexican... More

Last minute decision to try this restaurant before returning home with our luggage in tow. The staff was helpful and courteous in placing our luggage in a safe location. We also brought our own wine and did not mind the 100 peso corking charge. The food was well beyond our expectations and was the best authentic Mexican meal that we... More

The menu is not that extensive but everything we tried was delicious. We tried 3 different soups and 3 different main courses and 2 desserts. High quality, great flavor, good reasonable portions. Mezcal Cocktail is very good. The service was great too! We definitively want go back. Helpful tip: reserve in advance as there are only 6 tables!

This was our second meal at Las Mercedes and the experience was as good as the first time. Fantastic food at reasonable prices for the quality and execution. We center our trips around restaurants and this is one we will keep coming back to.

Very pleasant atmosphere with very good service. However, for the price, the food was just OK, not great.

I doubt we would have been able to eat here if we hadn't made a reservation weeks in advance, and even our taxi driver had some trouble finding it. But it would be hard to beat for a formal, upscale experience. The food was perfect, as was the service. Their justifiably proud of their restaurant, and I wouldn't go to... More

We dined at Mercedes the first night we were in Guanajuato, taking a cab from the center of the city to the hill overlooking the city. It was well worth the trip. The food was upscale Mexican, among the best we sampled while in Mexico. One of us had the pork shank and it was fabulous--the star of the evening... More

We read about this restaurant in several guidebooks and online. All of them gave it high marks for excellent food and service. We decided to go their for our 30th anniversary, and left feeling disappointed and slightly annoyed. When we arrived, we were told they would have to seat the two of us at a large table towards the rear... More
