Not only is this a small charming restaurant, the food is superb and reasonably priced considering how excellent it is. Four of us had the mushroom/corn fungus soup and thought it was delicious, followed by chammorra (sp?) pork shank (like lamb shank) perfectly flavored with corn and herbs and not too hot/piquant (no chiles). Including a bottle of Chilean Reserva... More

One of a kind Mexican Restaurant in a beautiful setting. The food is superb and all details are taken care of. We had the Tuna with crickets and the green pipian (pumpkin seed curry) chicken and for dessert the corn bread. Wonderfull time and meal. A must visit place in the Mexican Heart-Land (Bajío).

I visited this place because my wife chose it based on the great reviews... The place is nice, not outstanding neither beautiful, the service is nice as well. The food though, which is the main reason I visit a restaurant is nicely served but absolutely not worth it! It's nothing special and I would never go back there again. Simply... More

Beautiful, small restaurant with outstanding food, atmosphere and service. Everything we ate was excellent, including the three desserts. Service was paced perfectly and we were lucky to have some low key and beautiful live music. All in all, a wonderful dining experience and highly recommended.

An inexpensive cab ride for gets you to a converted house. On the second floor is a thoughtfully arranged restaurant interior suggestive of a living room from the past. It will be worth it to taste the unusual items, authentic and delicious. Our friend, a restauranteur from Leon, invited us here, and that meant we would taste many dishes. We... More

Cute, boutique-style, Mexican Restaurant. The service was great. The coctails are so good. I ordered a drink made out of "xoconostle" (fruit from the nopal cactus) . Other friends ordered drinks with mezcal, awesome. For appetizers we oredered, "escamoles" (it is a Mexican delicatessen, and it can be a shock to let you know that are edible larvae and pupae... Well, I heard about Las Mercedes from many friends, they all said it was by far the best restaurant in the city and one of the best in the state. I came here with a bunch of friends after struggling to find it since is completely off the tourist zone of Guanajuato. The interior atmosphere is that of a typical... More

Small restaurant worth to try. Don't forget to make a reservation and take your time to get there because is not easy to find it. The food is quite good and they atmosphere is quiet, when we went there was live music playing in the back (guitar and violin). A must visit while in Guanajuato.
