Like An Old Friend

There's a reason why there is still, after the many years I have been coming here, a line to get in to La Chata: everything here is consistently good- the food, the service, the prices. The open kitchen is run with precision and is a joy to watch while waiting for a table. I still make the trip... read more

The place is charming the food is good, simple mexican authentic! Prices are reasonable and the service is good! I guess they've been there long enough to create a loyal clientele who already know what they like!

This place seems to be one of the favorites for many as it becomes very busy with lines of people waiting. The food is good and very fresh. The horchata and conzome soup where very delicious.

Kind of a fast food atmosphere - food was good but not stellar for the money. Had to ask 3 times for a beer from 3 different waiters. The food was good and not expensive, but there are better places in the neighbourhood

We had dinner at 6pm and the place was packed. The turnover is quick so we were seated within 2 minutes. The service was great. The food was very good traditional Mexican food. I had enchiladas stuffed with beans and cheese and my mother had fried chicken and sopes. This is a well run restaurant. It is not fancy but... More

place is very hot, but helps keep food warm, the wait isn't worth it if you have this type of food often, its very worthy if you never tried tipical food, it is very cheap and clean probably 15USD PP

The place is always full and people wait on the outside for a table. In the meanwhile, staff serves you a glass of beer.

This place opened in the 40's and is still going strong. There are lines out the door each night and with good reason. The food is delicious!!! While you wait you can watch the masked chefs knead and spin fresh tortilla. Clean and authentic. (They are constantly cleaning and there is a quick turnover -although you never feel rushed). You... I really liked La Chata. They give you a lot of food for your money, and there is good selection of regional dishes as well. I tried pozole for the first time and loved it! The chips are also big, and salsa is complimentary. Food and refills were just brought to us. We did not have to beg like you... More
