We had a nice leisurely breakfast at La Chata. I had the chilaquiles with fried eggs. The dish was nicely spiced and was served with a selection of salsas. Service was very good (we arrived before they opened and they were happy to serve coffee and cafe de olla until the kitchen opened). Definitely worth a visit.

I had breakfast at La Chata for the first time last week. The food was wonderful and so was the coffee. I don't use sugar or milk so this passed the test. The server was attentive and knowledgeable. In the past I have been here for lunch and have always enjoyed it. The restaurant was quite festive looking as Christmas... More

Its in down town. Food is great and inexpensive! There was a line, we waited for 15 min to be seated, which is a good sign. Enjoy!

La Chata is an experience that any traveler to Guadalajara deserves and should experience. Mexican food is so often so much all the same. La Chata raises the bar and has for so many years that it is an institution in itself. There is so much pride in the food quality and preparation produced in the front of the restaurant... More

I went to this mexican rest. To try out some typical local food because many of my friends told me this is one the best place to have mexican local food. We had carne en su jugo , moles, enchiladas, sopes and food was very delicious & we enjoyed a lot.

From what I understood this place is known for traditional food from Jalisco. I was not impressed. We started with the queso fundido with half mushroom half chorizo. My gripe. They used canned mushrooms. Rubbery amd tasteless. We followed with Posole which was described as okay I had the taquitis de pollo. Super hard not crunchy tortilla with tasteless chicken... More

"if you follow the locals and look for the lines, you will have a good meal." Established in 1942, it's a must-see, must-eat! The kitchen is located in front as 6-8 "grandma's" are clad in white uniforms adorned with hats and safety masks. Watch as they plate meals with the precision of a symphony orchestra. When you get in side,... More

100% recommendable spot for real traditional Mexican food, there's a pianist that plays regional songs that makes for a perfect combination. A bit noisy on busy sundays.
