This charming and traditionally decorated restaurant is a treat. I enjoyed dinner here as part of a group attending a workshop in Guadalajara. This establishment was chosen as it provides an opportunity for visitors to the city to try out inspired local Mexican cuisine. To start I can recommend the 'Las quesadillas se las Cibeas' (cornmeal dough parcels stuffed with... More

We were excited about going to this place. Even the AMEX concierge recommended it. Well, food was so-so, service was so-so. If it wasn't for two great old friends that made the evening fun...it would have been a total disappointment. My friends had some signature ice cream dessert and said that was the best part of the evening. The filet... More

We visited the restaurant by recommendation, the food was delightful, service was OK. The downsides, well, it's kind of expensive and the furniture is a little bit old

A friend of ours took us to this restaurant for lunch recently, promising us a unique dining experience. We were definitely not disappointed and can't wait to introduce some of our other friends to this gem of a restaurant. My wife had the roquefort and chipotle soup, which she generously shared a taste with me. It was divine. I had... More

This is a quiet, refined restaurant - with older sophisticated waiters. If you've had a busy day walking around the city and just want to relax and unwind with good food and no noise, try El Sacromonte. The chicken mole was fantastic.

This is a must do restaurant! Situated in a quiet neighborhood not far from the embassies, you are greeted at the converted old mansion by friendly staff. Original tiles works and murals are interior features. But the food is the star here. Friendly wait staff, some of whom are bilingual, help you sort out the menu. I enjoyed the mole... More

We were directed to a different restaurant, but they were aloof and rude. We then decided to try Sacromonte out, as some locals had recommended it to us. Literally, we just walked around the block, went inside to a great decor, full bar (where they also had Campari) and very comfortable. Ordered some Albarino (white wine-Spain) and a lovely Malbec... Don't take a 80 peso taxi ride to get there, it's not that good. OK, the service is excellent, the dishes almost high end. The menu items have some interesting and unique sauces. It's pretty much what you would expect for the money. It's the kind of place you would take a prom date.

I recently visited this restaurant with a friend. The only reason we ended up here, next door to the sister restaurant El Sacromonte (which is fantastic), is that Sacromonte does not have a smoking area and my friend wanted to smoke. We were assured by the Sacromonte doorperson that the food next door in El Duende was exactly the same... More
