Great place, great food, great host.

Where do I begin? The house is beautifully decorated with art and typical Mexican crafts. Candle lit and nice background music. The food. My favorite is El Combinado which has a little from every dish the serve. I still have to try the Chiles en Nogada. This is the only place that serve them... read more

Every once in a while, you will discover a restaurant that has the rare almost intangible quality of being very special. La Fonda de la Noche is one of those places. Granted, it does take a little effort to get there. If you are staying in downtown Guadalajara you will likely need to take a taxi to get there (around... More

La Fonda de la Noche is a wonderful place. The restaurant is located in a beautiful two-story house. The atmosphere is cosy and warm. The menu is explained verbally. It might be better if you speak some Spanish. The Chile en Nogana is delicious (our favorite plate): a chile filled with meat, covered in a walnut cream sauce and decorated... More

They serve unique and very tasty Mexican food from the Durango region at very reasonable prices. The interior is Mexican eclectic, romantic and colorful. Service is excellent.

This place, located on a corner in central Guadalajara, specializes in the cuisines from Durango, a northern Mexican state. The service and attendance is quite good; located in an old house, it has two floors and indoor and outdoor dining. There is no sign and taxi drivers are unfamiliar with the place; my driver had to call his dispatcher for... More

This is a family-run restaurant and a little out of the way so it's frequented more by locals than tourists. The welcoming waiter gave us the option of sitting in one of the charming rooms and we picked what was the garage of a former house-so cozy. Tthere is no menu but the combination tasting plates are a good option... More

No convenient parking @ site. Have to use a structure 2 blocks away. Service was OK, but entree was just average. Nothing to go out of your way to try. $ value was good. Business dinner but economical compared with upper scale places.

Superb food, lovely interior and atmosphere and very welcoming staff. Besides some of the tastiest Mexican food you will find in GDL you also find one of the most pleasant atmospheres here.

Wow, I can't stop thinking about the food at this place. I am an American who loves Mexican food, and after a week of eating at highly rated places in Guadalajara, I tried out this place on my last night and was blown away. It ranks as the best Mexican food I've ever had. The service is a little different... More

The chef/owner tries his very best with his limited English, now we are in Mexico so I don't fault him that but he should a least have some menus; he explained his dishes and obviously we could not follow him so he brought a sheet listing the dishes. However, candlelight is very nice but when the light is so low... More
