We are a family business for over 20 years we were located within the Airport Zihuatanejo, the business was called "Snack Bar - El Mirador"; but in 2008 we decided to leave the anonymity and moved to town with a new "Carmelite Cafe" concept. The mission of Carmen and Don Jesus was always clear, offer our customers the best dining experience in Zihuatanejo. During these years we have been aware of the importance of treating our guests like family. We pride ourselves everyday to trust Cafe Carmelites to treat at home; therefore, we insist that the recipes of Mrs. Carmelita, always keep the flavor of the Mexican family kitchen. We will always have an eye to providing the best quality in each of our dishes; leaving aside, a friendly smile and a humble to serve our customers heart. We cook for you like for our own home, without shortcuts, no frills, with love.

Amazing food

This is the place to get authentic Mexican home cooking. Quesadillas with squash blossoms, green enchaladas, tacs dorados, chile rellenos all great. Carmelita is a sweetheart and the whole crew is very welcoming.

Went for lunch. Very enjoyable but the road traffic noise was a distraction. You have this beautiful decor with hardwood tables and chairs under a old tile roof canopy and you hear the constant noise of traffic passing. But the food was wonderful and the staff were fun to talk to. Had some fresh juice drinks to start. Mrs had... More

Carnelita's Place is an excellent option for a nice Mexican Breakfast. The owners are very nice people. The service is excellent, coffee is great and the food is classical refined mexican cuisine!!! Don't miss the aporreadillo and the eggs pasilla. Also the price is very reasonable, and the place is super clean. (Cash only)

Absolute best salad..Carmelitas salad..this place is muy Bueno..clean, friendly staff always accommodating to additions and omissions to menu items. I have a friend that is allergic to onions and they are helpful with suggestions for her choices. We have also had their pastel de lote (forgive my misspelling) and it's wonderful! I highly recommend this little out of the way... More

The food was very good and the service was excellent. We had a choice of fresh pastries and better than usual Mexican breakfast choices. The setting is very comfortable and clean even though the location is on a very busy street.

Carmelitas is the best kept secret in Zihua. Either breakfast or lunch it serves the best Mexican food in either Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo. Although it is difficult to find it is worth the effort. All the staff were very helpful from the owner, Carmelita, her son and our waitress Sylvie. Clean and friendly atmosphere. I just hope it doesn't become... More

We discovered Carmelita's Cafe last year and did not go anywhere else for breakfast and lunches. Carmelita and her son Victor and husband are always present tending to all the happy customers. We are back this year and been there twice already and it is still the best place in Zihua hands down. Authentic, lovingly prepared Mexican food with many... More
