Description: We are a family business for over 20 years we were located within the Airport Zihuatanejo, the business was called "Snack Bar - El Mirador"; but in 2008 we decided to leave the anonymity and moved to town with a new "Carmelite Cafe" concept. The mission of Carmen and Don Jesus was always clear, offer our customers the best dining experience in Zihuatanejo. During these years we have been aware of the importance of treating our guests like family. We pride ourselves everyday to trust Cafe Carmelites to treat at home; therefore, we insist that the recipes of Mrs. Carmelita, always keep the flavor of the Mexican family kitchen. We will always have an eye to providing the best quality in each of our dishes; leaving aside, a friendly smile and a humble to serve our customers heart. We cook for you like for our own home, without shortcuts, no frills, with love.

very friendly local restaurant. Food is delicious, staff and owners warm and welcoming. I would strongly recommend lunch.

Wonderful Mexican fare, popular with tourists and locals alike. Clearly from all the reviews this was one place not to be missed and glad we came here! Probably the best local cuisine in Zihua... Dont miss it, it will however set the bar for the rest, so beware!

Mrs. M and I have been going to Zihua for almost 20 years and half the fun is trying to find things like the Post Office. We mail postcards every year and say a fervent prayer when we hand them over to the nice employee behind the counter, "go with God tarjetas." Sometimes our prayers are answered and some years... I absolutely loved Carmelita's. My husband and I just returned from Zihua 11/29/2014 through 12/6/2014. We too reviewed Trip Advisor for great places to eat. Our first meal was a late lunch. I had the squash blossom quesadillas. Something different, unique and very tasty. My husband, unable to remember clearly, had chicken enchiladas with mole' sauce?? Anyway very good. Before... More

We had breakfast at Carmelita's because of all the rave reviews it received on Trip Advisor. It did not disappoint. All the food was delicious, but the corn tamales were outstanding. They were a tad on the sweet corn side, but the taste was truly authentic. The service was outstanding and the prices decent. What more could you ask?

Today was my first time to visit Carmelita's. The food was excellent and the people were very friendly and provided great service. The food was not very expensive. We had chile relleno and pork ribs....also, guacamole. The margarita was good, too. I would definitely go back to Carmelita's.

It's no wonder this restaurant is rated the best in Zihuatanejo! While we were only able to stop in once during this visit, it was one of the best meals of the trip. The restaurant is modest in terms of decor or location, but the food (which we were told by the owner's son is based on his mom's own... More

It is in a weird spot, but that's Mexico. You can never, ever tell the book by its cover! It is a good walk. The people are friendly, don't worry!

The chef from Intrawest was nice enough to show us the place for breakfast. Fresh juice, good coffee, good food. Clean. Friendly staff. Close to the market.

Had a great brunch - fresh food, good prices & service. Would be amazing if they were open for the evening, but they sure fill the breakfast / lunch niche! Varied menu - try something different each time we eat there - never disappointed.
