Description: We are a family business for over 20 years we were located within the Airport Zihuatanejo, the business was called "Snack Bar - El Mirador"; but in 2008 we decided to leave the anonymity and moved to town with a new "Carmelite Cafe" concept. The mission of Carmen and Don Jesus was always clear, offer our customers the best dining experience in Zihuatanejo. During these years we have been aware of the importance of treating our guests like family. We pride ourselves everyday to trust Cafe Carmelites to treat at home; therefore, we insist that the recipes of Mrs. Carmelita, always keep the flavor of the Mexican family kitchen. We will always have an eye to providing the best quality in each of our dishes; leaving aside, a friendly smile and a humble to serve our customers heart. We cook for you like for our own home, without shortcuts, no frills, with love.

January 28, 2015 -we came for a late breakfast which obviated any need for lunch. Carmelita greeted us at our table! Our food was over the top -- huevos rancheros/motilenis/omelet, guacamole (of course). Carmelita added house made warm ricotta and ribs (for those if us who are it). Highest recommendation not to miss eating here. Gil from Baltimore

This cafe was recommended by a fellow airline passenger on our flight to Zihua--can't thank her enough for the helpful tip. Carmelita's is truly a gem!! The menu is in Spanish but very manageable and the staff are very helpful with translation and/or descriptions. They serve breakfast and lunch in a lovely patio setting downtown. Our group (two couples) ordered... More

We went for breakfast. The restaurant has a very nice decor and greenery that lends a relaxed atmosphere, despite the nearby streets. We ordered huevos divorcidado (two eggs, with red sauce on one & green sauce on the other) and a regional special that had scrambled eggs with a tomato based sauce. Both were excellent. The service was excellent and... More

Sometimes negative comments are the most useful but there's nothing negative in my visits to Carmelita's. Traditional Mexican and local specialties prepared well at great prices. Friendly staff who are happy to let you practice your Spanish even though their English is better. Clean, pleasant semi-open air setting. And Carmelita is a very nice lady.

Through several recommendations to dine at Carmelitas Cafe, we strolled in for lunch on the 5th day of our 6 day stay in Zihua/Ixtapa. After the meal, we both wished that we ate here earlier on during our trip. We would have had lunch here everyday if we had known how delicious everything is! The enmoladas, the pork, and the... Very busy so we waited a while. Nice enough staff who were very fluent in English. Was expecting a bit more from the food, but still okay.

I went to Carmelitas for breakfast and it was wonderful. From the greeting we received when we walked in, to the smiles and encouragement to come back when we left and everything in between. We were seated and immediately our waitress came to take our coffee and juice order. When she left someone appeared at our table with a selection... More
