I was a bit skeptical with all of the 5 star ratings on trip advisor but halfway through the meal I new I would be adding mine. The staff was amazing and friendly (yes we met Carmelita who was fantastic) and the food was superb. My wife and I were there for lunch last week and (hours are 8-4:30) and... More

I'm a big mexican pastry fan, I just bit into the best pineapple empanadas ever. Coming from a family of Mexican bakers, that should say a lot. Super friendly and attentive. Prices are awesome, locals eat here(that says a lot as well) and super clean. Glad we came. We got a taxi here because it's difficult to find.

Well the previous ratings were spot on . My wife and I began our Sunday stroll from the hotel district to this quaint cafe. The owner Carmelita greeted us personally and offered their many house specialties. I devoured the excellent chilaqillas verde con pollo, which was prepared to perfection. My wife was treated to the lengua (beef tongue) en salsa... More

We had heard so much about Carmelita's and were not disappointed! From pastries to banana pancakes and even pork ribs for breakfast, Carmelita's rocks!!!

I've been traveling to Zihuatanejo for almost 15 years now. "Back in the day" the best place to eat was at the airport at this hole in the wall joint where I'd get some tacos before hitting the road, either upon arrival or departure, sometimes even taking a goodie bag to keep me going on the long flight home. Then... More

Carmen, the owner, is a delight; the atmosphere is wonderful; and the food is not to be ever forgotten or surpassed!!!! It reminded us of the best we experienced in Oaxaca included the sauces and the unique and fresh ingredients. She serves a "Requeson" -- some version of Ricotta as an appetizer that in and of itself is worth the... More

This is truly a great place to eat breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful and it was really cool having the owner casually walking around her guests, interacting with everyone from local to tourist. The food was incredible, really, really good Mexican food presented with fresh pressed juices and home made bread and pastries.

We don't eat out for breakfast often, but when we do, this is one of two places we love. It's clean, efficient, yummy, and has great service. Many, many locals frequent this restaurant - always a good sign!

Our hotel stay included breakfast until the last day, so unfortunately we didn't discover Carmelita's until the day we left Zihua. It's too bad because this was by far the best breakfast we ate while in Mexico and the staff was the friendliest of anywhere we went! Carmelita herself spent the entire time walking amongst her guests and making sure... More
