We don't eat out for breakfast often, but when we do, this is one of two places we love. It's clean, efficient, yummy, and has great service. Many, many locals frequent this restaurant - always a good sign!

Our hotel stay included breakfast until the last day, so unfortunately we didn't discover Carmelita's until the day we left Zihua. It's too bad because this was by far the best breakfast we ate while in Mexico and the staff was the friendliest of anywhere we went! Carmelita herself spent the entire time walking amongst her guests and making sure... More

Over the last 5 years,we have gone to Carmelitas numerous times for breakfast and lunch. Excellent authentic Mexican food. Some of the food receipts were handed down by her mother. Staff very friendly and supply great service. The restaurant is situated in a courtyard at the back of the building that supplies a wonderful atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

This was our first trip to the area and were looking for authentic Mexican food. We found this restaurant on trip advisor and figured we'd give it a shot. Both my wife and I speak very little Spanish and still found the staff to vibe very curtious and friendly. The food was great too! I broke one of my sandals... More

You need to try this little gem...authentic Mexican. We met the owner on our first visit and she made us try all different foods. On the second trip we met her son and he was just as pleasant. Food was hot presented well. Beyond reasonable. Try this place before everyone else does.

We went to this restaurant last year because it was number one on tripadvisor. The restaurant is located on a busy street and had parking behind it and next to it. The food was average in every way for Zihautanejo - quantity, quality and portion size. There was nothing at all wrong with it, but nothing outstanding either. After we... More

Everyone recommends Carmelita's, and now I know why! We went between the breakfast and lunch rush. The staff was extremely friendly, and very helpful explaining local dishes that did not translate well. The food was simple and very good. Carmelita came by several times to make sure everything was ok, and chatted with us briefly when we asked about the... More

they have a very comfortable restaurant and focus on delicious food. Not a touristy place, but I'll bet it is one of the most popular spots for knowledgeable locals.

After many breakfast trips, we finally tried Carmelitas for lunch and it was as fantastic as all the ways it is for breakfast. Service is impeccable - so friendly. Food was fantastic, the pork special and mahi-mahi were excellent. Victor, Carmelita's son, visited with us and we were so impressed with his family's commitment to top-notch service and food -...
