Everyone recommends Carmelita's, and now I know why! We went between the breakfast and lunch rush. The staff was extremely friendly, and very helpful explaining local dishes that did not translate well. The food was simple and very good. Carmelita came by several times to make sure everything was ok, and chatted with us briefly when we asked about the... More

they have a very comfortable restaurant and focus on delicious food. Not a touristy place, but I'll bet it is one of the most popular spots for knowledgeable locals.

After many breakfast trips, we finally tried Carmelitas for lunch and it was as fantastic as all the ways it is for breakfast. Service is impeccable - so friendly. Food was fantastic, the pork special and mahi-mahi were excellent. Victor, Carmelita's son, visited with us and we were so impressed with his family's commitment to top-notch service and food -... Love this place. Felt like family the first time. We went there almost every day for breakfast. Great food, very clean, service is impeccable and the fresh ground coffee is a must. A big shout out to Jose Manuel Gomez and Lisbeth!! Just wonderful people and so helpful with any questions we had about Zihua. Carmelita always came to say... More

Came for breakfast and ordered chilaquiles, hot cakes, and huevos muñelotos(?). All the food and service was excellent. Hope to come back for other items.

I had high expectations for Carmelita's based on rave reviews in Trip Advisor and from knowledgeable chefs like Rick Bayless and I was not disappointed. Spotlessly clean, warm atmosphere, friendly greeting, attentive service and most importantly excellent food. Homemade tortillas, great pan Dulce's, and the best coffee we've had in Zihua. Would highly recommend.

We enjoyed our breakfast at Carmelitas, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Maybe if we'd had a more substantial meal, it would have made a difference. They had a Chiles Rellenos on the menu ... and maybe that would have changed this review. Blended juice drinks, fruit and egg dishes were average. Coffee was excellent. I judge Mexican... More

Met some friends for lunch and it was very good. Enjoyed a beverage made from watermelon and it was tasty and refreshing. We would return again.

Third trip to Zihua and we look forward to getting back to Carmelitas. Excellent food, we always try the specials and the staff is really the best. Friendly and helpful. Once you've eaten there you feel like family. Taxi drivers all know where it is.

We had breakfast here because of the high TripAdvisor ratings and reviews. We were not disappointed. Hot breads, fresh fruits, eggs cooked to perfection, great service and the owner on site making sure everything is just right. Our group was very impressed. We would all recommend this restaurant and we all will be returning. Great setting. Not cheap.
