Description: A lot of places claim to be for the "locals" but this place actually is where they eat. The name means "crazy potato" in English and that is their speciality. Huge baked potato's filled with buttter, sour cream, cheese and then a variety of meats. Their tacos al pastor and pico de gallo are the best I've ever tasted. Nothing on the menu is more than $50 peso's or about $4usd. Very popular spot with the locals and tourist's that want to experience authentic Mexican food..

You have to go try their baked potatoes. I've been coming to Zihua for many years and never had anything like it. Stuffed with sour cream, cheese, tomatoes, bacon and shrimp, mine was heavenly! We did the tacos also, another great item!! Extremely authentic, don't expect much help in English, but you can figure it out with just poco de... More

For an inexpensive, yet filling meal - this is your place! Giant baked potatoes are what they're known for, but everything else is yummy too! Our friend always orders himself a quart of the juice made from flowers. The potatoes are loaded with your choice of fillings and are under $5!

I was amazed at this little corner restaurant, it has outdoor and inside seating. My potato was perfectly done, I even got one to go as I presently live out of town. Then I tried there fajitas and they were a betterpride and quantity than at more expensive resaurants. I will definately go again.

Not a tourist destination, but really good stuffed potatoes. Can get tacos there too. Don't expect a fancy place as this is just on a busy street, but worth going. Doesn't open til 5pm.

This restaurant is basically located on a sidewalk on a busy street near the center of town, so it can be noisy. However, we have had several of the stuffed potatoes over the past few years and they are very tasty. The portions are huge, which is fine for us. It just means we can take 1/2 back to the... More

I'm not a huge fan of papas but there are other things on the menu and the food was so good and fast. Very filling for sure. Wasn't crazy about the location - pretty much tables set out on the sidewalk and the toilet didn't have a seat on it...that was interesting! Worth the experience though.

Not fancy, pretentious, or high-end, but this is a fantastic and fun place for a casual dinner. The place is packed with locals and the food is delicious. It's not what you'd expect as "traditional" Mexican food and that makes it even better. They can't help but surprise you.

I loved watching the guys on the grill work, they're fast and have great skill. They make amazing tacos and my fav was the tacos el pastor. Bring your appetite because you can eat til you explode for next to nothing. Truly authentic!

La Papa Loca was a surprising treat in the heart of Zihuatanejo! For $9US we got 2 beers, 2 bottles of water, 5 pastor tacos and a GIGANTIC baked potato stuffed with bacon, shrimp, tomatoes and ooey, gooey, creamy cheese. By far the best value of any meal we ate during our stay. The atmosphere is exciting and authentic. The... More
