We love the traditional Mexican breakfast buffet served at La Casa Vieja. Even during the busy holiday week, they set up a table for 10 people, and served us quickly. The buffet includes traditional Mexican food and service, and also has a fresh griddle with eggs made to order. The pancakes are also the best I have ever had! Not... More

My dish was good, but the wife's was only okay. The service was excellent. The portions were huge. We should have ordered one dish & shared then it wouldn't have been so pricey!

While it wasn't quite 'the best steak ever' that I remembered from 7 years ago, it was still delicious. Perhaps the best part of the meal was the friendly service. We were well taken care of and had amazing cocktails.

Went last night. This used to be one of our favorites; over the 27 years we've come, we've had plenty of time to find good eats. Unfortunately, it's not one we'll return to. Pretty lights and decorations. Decent service and drinks (can't really mess up a Black Russian). Tortilla soup was OK, but luke-warm; dedos del diablo were bland -... More

We got hustled into this place. Usually we know better than to fall for the sidewalk hard sell, but we were in a hurry and looking for a place near our hotel which led to compromised decision-making. Our waiter was (I thought) rather heavy handed with the humor and clearly overly used to the care and feeding of gringos, leading... More

Lovely place. Quiet. Nice music. Nice staff. Great menu. Missed Sunday brunch, but dinner was lovely. Pork ribs, nice salad, cochinitas pibil. Lots of food for two. Good margaritas. Try it. Pozole on Thursdays.

I went there twice and had a decent time. I was also there 6 days ago, it wasn't busy (not yet tourist season), so Ray gave exceptional service. Very friendly and welcoming. The food was decent. Had a pork rib dish with I believe it was a tamarind or prune sauce reduction. It was good but there was too much... More

We thought it looked charming, but then we were hustled on the street to eat there. We got in to the restaurant and suddenly no one was paying attention. When my husband ordered a margarita, they brought him agave wine with lime. When we protested they brought a real margarita with tequila but by then we were unhappy. The food... More

Three visits...one decent meal. The location in the Madera neighborhood is great and the atmosphere is nice with lots of plants and bougainvillea. We found the quality of our meals were inconsistent...ranging from decent to downward. With so many great restaurants in Zihuatanejo, one can do better than Casa Vieja.
