A Zihuatanejo Must

If you are staying in Zihuatanejo, you must try this place. This restaurant was recommended by a desk staff person at the Hotel Irma, who said that it offered the most authentic local food. For as little as 25 pesos, you can experience the best tamales you will have ever had.

We liked Tamales a lot. The tamales are authentic, but the star on the menu was the chicken mole. Overall, we found dining in Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo pretty disappointing compared with many other places we have visited in Mexico, but Tamales was the authentic deal. Mostly locals in the restaurant and very reasonably priced. It was the only restaurant that... More

They have it all, and it's great. Caution! the portions are very large and you might want to split a plate (4 tacos was too much for me, and I'm sort of big). Also, get some advice from the wait staff about the relative heat of the sauces- you have been warned.

It's a typical Mexican eatery with colourful walls and decor. We ended up here because we couldn't locate the other recommendations that our hotel gave us. It is right in the smack of town, which could be good or bad. We went in the early evening and managed to get a parking right by the restaurant. We had tamal, pozole... More

Located in the town of Zihuat, this family friendly resteraunt always delivers excellent tamales and wonderful pasole. The staff is friendly, the restaurant very reasonably priced, and frequently very full with locals and with Mexican tourists.

The place is clean, prompt service but the food is ....let's say mediocre. The free drink had a bad after taste and the whole food experience left us with..Never again.Popular with tourists, you do not see a lot of locals eating there. Try Pacolo's or the Captain's daughter a few blocks towards the water.

What a delight to find this oasis of food and refreshment! We want to make sure that you find it too. It was a very hot, humid day for October. We wandered past the tourist vendors and found Any (Say Annie). It's a few blocks from the port, maybe 5 minutes. It's on the corner (see address above) and its... More

went here several times during a recent trip. The food, the atmosphere, the wait staff , everything is outstanding including the prices. Hot, fresh, authentic mexican fare and a very good size portion of everything too. You will not go away hungry here. we tried several dishes on the menu and everyone raved about each of their dishes each visit.... More
